the staff at this homewood suites is very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Do not get a room next to the elevator they make a funny noise and hard to sleep.
The hot and cold breakfast is standard fare and you make your own waffles which is a great option. There are two fast food and one italitan place all within 100 yards so you can walk to them if you don't want to go out however there are excellent restrauants in the area that you should consider and two big malls so good area for families.

I was on the north shore to visit a family member at Woodbridge, an assisted living facility in Peabody. I was looking for a place close by- this fit the bill. Had a little trouble on Rt 1 after I drove right by it- the road is divided and you have to go past it and head south to turn around. I only stayed 2 nights but the suite was enormous for one person. Would be good for more people or a longer stay, with a well equipped kitchenette and TVs in both living and bedrooms. More space than I needed. Bath was large with good shower. Not brand new but clean and bright. Never had buffet dinner there but it is provided during the week only. Breakfast was better than average. I enjoyed the small heated indoor pool- big enough to do some laps, and the workout room was small but had TVs and basic equipment. No jacuzzi though. A 5 minute drive to Woodbridge and was able to go through the parking lot in the back to get there on the back roads- no need to get on the highway. Also ate at a good pizza joint practically next door-Santarpios.

The hotel is conveniently located north of Boston and we used it as a base for visiting Salem, Gloucester and the surroundings. The hotel is a bit run down; The rooms are due for renovation. Service was excellent and reception did their best to make our stay satisfactory. Overall I would recommend using the Hilton Hampton inn, right next door.
Unlike most other Hilton properties we stayed in this hotel still has smoking rooms, keep that in mind when making your reservation.
