Whenever the majority of negative reviews are old (more than a year), I think it is important to update them if you have a positive experience. So I am.
There is nothing wrong with this hotel. It appears to have been recently refurbished. The shower/tub surround is now corian, which anyone in the construction industry can tell you is antimicrobial (mold CANNOT grow on it). The vanity and wet bar countertops are granite.
Yes, the suite space is divided by a half wall. There are not 2 separate rooms. But the pictures on both Trip Advisor and the Marriott websites clearly show this. However, the sitting area with sofa, chair, desk, end tables, and lamps makes it possible to watch TV or work without having to sit on your bed.
This hotel is on Rt. 1 north of Boston. Rt. 1 is a limited access surface street. It is also THE major north/south thoroughfare between Boston and Maine NOT named Interstate 95. So, yes, it is a busy street with limited "turnarounds". And if you aren't familiar with New England "jug handles", it can be frustrating if you miss them. Heading northbound on Rt. 1, the hotel is on the right IMMEDIATELY after you go under the Interstate 95 overpass.
We were on the back side of the hotel, but with the a/c on we never would have heard road noise. The hotel was also full of high school-aged kids in town for a basketball tournament, and we never heard them either.
