“I feel misled by all the negative reviews.”

I read the negative reviews before I went and almost canceled my reservation. I was pleasantly surprised by a simple but pleasant room. It was very clean. There was no bad smell. My room upstairs was very quiet and warm. The bathroom was clean and pleasant. The exceptional fireplace in the dining room was a lovely place to read my Sunday NY Times with a cup of hot cocoa. The logs were real as was the fire. The staff was consistently nice. it was very convenient to everything I wanted to do. Like the room, the bed was adequate but not fancy. I slept well both nights. I appreciated the all cotton sheets. PLUS it was the cheapest of the 3 places available in Northampton. It was much nicer than a chain motel. The TV wasn't very good and I didn't try the breakfast. I don't see what the negative fuss is about.

“Past Its Prime”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2010

Disgusting smell throughout. Horrid bathroom. Lumpy bed. Worn out towels. The last update must have been done over 30 years ago. This place is a health risk for people allergic to molds and mildews.

“Loved it!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2010

This Inn is quite quaint. We stayed one night. It is quite nice for a short inexpensive stay. When last in Northampton with our Smith Student we stayed at the Hotel Northampton. This time we enjoyed the Autumn Inn for a quick one night stay. I found the ambience of the dining area quite enjoyable- soft Christmas music, fire place going, and a picturesque window view. For a short quick stay you cannot go wrong with this place.

“MOLDY BATHROOM!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2010

There was mold and dirty grout in the shower/bathtub. I had already taken a shower and we were only there for one night, so I was able to avoid it. But, really----how can the cleaning crew and the management fail to miss this? The bed was comfortable but when they miss such obvious cleaning problems, I wonder about what the guests can't easily detect about cleaning issues.

“Never again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2010

We aren't terribly picky by most standards. Often, we're just looking for a clean place to sleep. While there are special occasions that merit fancy "inns", "hotels", and "suites", this was not among them, and we thought that perhaps the Autumn Inn would suffice. We thought that, given the area, and the price, we'd probably end up with a fairly nice room. Suffice it to say that we we sorely mistaken. The bathroom was so dirty neither one of us could actually face taking a morning shower in it. The carpet was filthy, the bed horribly uncomfortable... To add insult to injury, they wanted to charge us $3 for a warm bottle of water, and we'd have been charged for the use of a safe, had we not specifically declined use of it. We've stayed in Motel 6 and Super 8 Motels that were considerably cleaner and more comfortable, and certainly cheaper! While the motel (not "inn") was conveniently located, it was by no means worth it.
