“Very Good”

We were passing through Northampton and the Autumn Inn was recommended in our guide book, so we stayed there for one night and had a perfectly pleasant stay and have no complaints.

We spent 2 weeks in New England and the Autumn Inn was nearly the cheapest place we stayed (2nd to motel in Milford) yet the room size was great and the breakfast one of the best we had, so in my view this offered great value.

The reception staff were very pleasant and there is some good info on the local area, for example getting a bus into town, even though it is only a short walk into the nice town of Northampton.

“Great location and nice people but unnecessarily shabby”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

This motel is well-located near downtown Northampton and Smith and the people who work there are all extremely friendly. But the condition of my room was quite poor. It was clean, but shabby. For example, the back of the bathroom door had multiple deep scratches in it -- not new. How much effort does it take to throw a coat of paint on a door? In addition, I was over the kitchen and heard the dishwasher and disposal at night through the floor. But there was no mold and the room was toasty warm in November. Breakfast was simple but fine -- cereal, bagels, and muffins. There are not that many choices of places to stay in Northampton, but don't expect much from this one and you won't be disappointed.

“mold unbearable, food poor, staff nice”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

This hotel has so much potential. Nice setting, good size room, comfortable bed, nice outside, near everything, quiet, cute.
Mold permeates the place. I think that is because I saw no ventilation in the rooms....not even in the bathroom--- rugs everywhere--- damp and moldy, and this was in October. Also, air conditioner in room had not been clean in ? years. Otherwise, clean and nice. Others have commented on the breakfast. Very low quality food--little packets shipped from the Midwest, maple syrup for the awful waffles with many chemicals and no maple syrup. The fresh fruit was awful--a waxed terrible apple , and in the middle of apple season in farmlands--the orange juice tasted like Tang. Again, so much potential

“Great hospitality, nice stay, good price...will come back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011

I booked a Valley Vacation package through the Hampshire Hospitality website and received a deeply discounted price plus a $25 giftcard for use at a number of Northampton shops. I had read mixed reviews on the site and was a bit apprehensive but was on a budget so this was the best deal.

I was very pleasantly surprised upon arrival. We arrived later on a Friday night and the girl who greeted us was incredibly hospitable and full of information. There is 24/7 coffee, tea, and ice water in the lobby. The rooms were rather large although I would have liked to see a larger bathroom. It wasn't anything extravagant but we were looking for a comfortable, homey space and that is what we found. The four poster bed was comfortable and there were plenty of pillows, the shower was hoooot and refreshing, and the room was very clean.

The complimentary breakfast was decent with an assortment of pastries, breads, and cereals, a waffle maker, apple and orange juice, and fresh fruit (apples + oranges). The inn is about a mile outside of downtown so it is more than a reasonable walk if you want to avoid finding and paying for parking or driving back after a night out.

All in all we had a wonderful stay and found every staff member to be incredibly gracious and knowledgable. We will definitely stay again in the future.
