“We were very upset about what happened during our stay!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

We were staying at the motel for one night. We found the motel to be very clean and spacious. It is great to have a view of the ocean right outside your door. The price was also good. We were very happy with our stay UNTIL we awoke from a sound sleep to a blaring alarm going off at 4am. The alarm indicated a carbon monoxide problem and informed us to evacuate the room. We went outside along with the inhabitants of all 10 rooms attached to our building. There is no one in the office at that hour. Someone had to call 911 and we waited for the police and the fire dept. to come. In the meantime the owner was notified by the fire dept. and came over. I was SHOCKED by the way this was handled by the owner: 1. There was NO apology to any of the customers for being jarred out of a sound sleep unexpectedly and forced out into the cold in the middle of the night. 2. He said that this probably happened due to faulty equiptment that was made in China. 3.He said that it happened in another building on the property just one week before....Why, if the owner thinks he has faulty equiptment, is nothing being done to remedy that situation? 4. Prior to the fire dept. arriving, the owner said to my party that we could go back in the room. No one had physically checked the carbon monoxide level in our room....how were we to know we were safe? When I questioned him, having heard the alarm say there was a carbon monoxide problem, he actually got rude and gave ME an attitude. REALLY? This is how you treat customers who are paying to stay in your establishment? 5. The next morning, the woman who works in the office (who was kind throughout our stay) had a conversation with us about the possiblity of someone perhaps showering in the middle of the night, and said that maybe steam from this caused the alarms in the building to be set off. Really? She then said that perhaps someone had been smoking in their room and maybe that set the alarms off. While that could be a viable possibilty, there is NO excuse for the rudeness of the owner, and there is NO excuse for the fact that NO ONE offered the simplest of apologies for this inconvenience, nor any incentive for us to return. Clearly, they sent a strong message that our business is not valued and we will not be returning to the Sea Gull Motel.

“FIRST TIME THERE-WILL NEVER STAY ANYWHERE ELSE!”

Our first time in Cape Cod! We had so many options when we planned the trip, and ended up at the Seagull because it had A/C. Can't imagine staying anywhere else.....Clean, friendly, excellent maid service, quiet, felt like home. The private beach and morning view are SPECTACULAR! Bring OFF for your legs when walking the beaches so avoid sand flea nips! Love this place!!!!!!!!!

“Clean, Quiet, Convenient to P'Town”

My fiancee and I recently stayed at the SeaGull. Can't say enough nice things about this motel. I read one of the reviews that said the beach was dirty. This couldn't be farther from the truth. The beach was clean - no litter, no dog waste, nothing. I suspect the presence of dried seaweed looked "dirty" to the poster. The bay has drastic low and high tides that washes a lot of seaweed onto the beach, but is in no way dirty. Speaking of the rooms themselves, yes it is an old motel, but kept meticulously clean. New grout in the bathrooms, clean linens. I was very impressed. We were there for P'Town's annual Carnival celebration and couldn't find another room anywhere. We ended up taking a 10 minute shuttle ride to the center of town. How convenient! We saw many people staying in PTown that had to walk much farther and paid a lot more for the "convenience" of staying in town. Overall, a wonderful place to stay. Very quiet with a short walk to a private beach!

“Good value and CLEAN!”

This is a no-frills place right on the beach, 5 minutes outside of Ptown. It's on the older side & the furnishings reflect that (pink and black tile, bedding is seriously old-school), but it's kept SPARKLING clean & that's what I care about! The sheets were so bleachy-clean they almost glowed! We had a very nice stay for 3 days in late June, really enjoyed the location & the fact that it had it's own beach just outside the back door. A small courtyard with grills was a very nice touch. I booked my stay with the owners who were VERY nice on the phone & obviously take a lot of pride in keep their establishment clean and cared for (it took a few tries to reach them on the phone in May because they spent long hours raking and cleaning the beach!), although the young lady who we dealt with onsite was a bit rude when we did have a (pretty routine) request, made it clear that we were interrupting her chat on the phone. The cleaning staff was FANTASTIC: the lovely lady who cleaned our room literally would not let us back in one morning until she finished cleaning. Everyone was very kind to my son. This place is a solid value & for the area (6A in lovely North Truro) it's pretty unbeatable.

the rooms were very clean it was odd to see such dated furntiure in such good repair, The room DID NOT smell musty as many of the other hotel rooms do in the area. For the price you cant beat it. there is a boardwalk all the way down to the beach, beware of the ticks on the beach It was easy to get everywhere either driving or on the trolley. The girl at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. There was coffeee in the front office. No extras but well maintained simple clean hotel
