“beware- priceline has raised this to a 3 star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

it used to be only 2.5 star on priceline. I used to feel safe bidding on a 3* in waltham/newton area. To my horror I got this hotel again in less than a month. I have no issues with this hotel except for the location (horrible inner city traffic around it) and the ripoff $21 per day parking charges. If you bid on a 3 star hotel in Waltham/Newton area you will invariably get this.

Room Tip: don't bring a car

“Above Mass Turnpike!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I stayed at this hotel since it was close to my work. I have stayed here in the past for only 1 night or so. This past business trip - I had to stay multi-nights for work. The location of this hotel is above the Mass Turnpike (literally views over the highway). The road noise did not bother me too much in the past but this past stay - the noise seems to be much louder and consistent thru out the night! I was located on the top or near the top (12 floor).

Everything else about this hotel is good - price, location and room quality but the noise may it very hard to get a good night sleep. I even had ear plugs with me but it did not do any good in suppressing the road noise. I do not think I will stay here again since I did inquire if there was a 'quieter' area of the hotel but they told me that there is no such location.

Room Tip: Not in this location - need earplugs or to be a heavy sleeper!

“$21 a night for parking is outrageous”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Well we thought we got a great deal on Priceline for a 3* hotel for about $76 as the listed price is about $130. Then upon check-in we're told parking is $21 a night and we are staying here 7 days !! I could understand if the location is in Boston but it isn't. Hotel claims it is private parking garage, yet you are charged by the hotel for the parking. The hotel is nice and I liked the view overlooking the highway. An Italian restaurant is across the street and Betucci's around the block and Walgreen's also down the block. Small indoor pool but it was on the cold side. Next to pool is fitness equipment.

“Friendly staff just outside Boston”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

After driving through a blizzard, I arrived at the Crowne Plaza, close to midnight and the staff couldn't have been nicer I was offered a room on a high floor (so noise wasn't a factor), the view was fascinating (particularly in the snow) as the hotel is built over the expressway. The room was clean and large and the modern bathroom included a powerful hairdryer, magnifying/cosmetic mirror and good water pressure in the shower. It is a little difficult to find the entrance to the hotel. When you get off at the exit turn left just past the hotel, but stay in the middle or right lane, so that you don't re-enter the highway. The entrance will be on your left as you pass Uno's pizzeria across the street. Parking is $21/night. The location is great for visiting Newton and it's an easy drive into Boston.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor.

“Very Relaxing Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

This is a very nice hotel with comfortable, clean rooms. My husband and I live in the Greater Boston area and use this location as our getaway.
While it is a fact that an expressway is nearby, our stay was still quite tranquil, due to the easy-going attitudes and friendliness of the staff.
Martha's Cafe food is above standard (there is also a interesting selection of beer and wine). The hotel is reasonably priced. We enjoyed the new workout room and pool.
The #57 bus from Kenmore Square (runs every 15-20 minutes, goes right by the hotel).
