“Sheraton Needham is a work in progress”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We stayed at the Sheraton Needham during the Thanksgiving weekend for a family reunion. Our reservation was upgraded (Starwood Platinum) to a spacious suite, which was great! The Club lounge was closed for the weekend, so we had to navigate long wait lines for brunch. The $9 parking charge was also a nuisance (the hotel is in the suburbs, so I parked around the corner). On the 2nd night of our stay, someone pulled the fire alarm! The hotel was evacuated and this made for an interesting morning!
I am elated to see the hotel is being renovated. It needs it!

Room Tip: - ask for an upgrade!

“Excellent for our needs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We stayed in the hotel for a week over Christmas 2011 , it was perfect for us visiting family at Babson University , we were fortunate to have a suite and breakfast included , which was superb .
As it was our first visit to the area the staff were wonderful and very helpful , the room was lovely and clean and very quiet which was a blessing after a long trip from New Zealand .
We enjoyed shopping in the near area and were able to walk comfortably.

“Lots of things wrong - even after renovations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I checked into this hotel not knowing that renovations were still going on and that everything I PAID to have included in my room rate (Club room floor, free wifi in the club lounge, free cocktails, free breakfast) did not exist because the lounge was even finished from the renovations. My room was on the 5th floor on the renovated floor, but it smelled of chemicals (perhaps glues or adhesives from the wall coverings or rugs??) which worried me from a toxicity point of view. At check in I was told about the renovations and closed club lounge - i was given a voucher for breakfast and for a free appetizer in the bar. No free cocktails. When I asked about wifi, i found out they dont have wifi in the rooms (even the renovated rooms!). and since the club lounge is closed, although it would have free wifi when it is open, nothing was available yet. So i asked that i be given credit for my internet connection in my room since i cannot go to the main lobby and conduct my business or hold a conference call while using wifi (at least the lounge would be more discreet and less crowded. At checkout, the internet fee was on my bill - i had to call to have it removed. Breakfast buffet was ok. Room service dinner was decent. I'm not sure I would go back to this location even when renovations are completed. Renovated room overall looked nice. Bathroom and toiletries were nice. New flat screen LCD TV. But the issues I have with this property is the staff and the service quality. It wasnt great. I didnt feel welcome, especially as an elite member. I didnt feel like anyone cared what happened or even appreciated the fact that the hotel wasnt delivering on its promises due to the renovations.

“New guest rooms are much better. Meeting room facelift is done.”

Where's the wifi in guest rooms? I think that should have been part of the $11m renovation. Helpful staff.

“Expected better for a Sheraton brand name”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

I travel for business extensively , it seems that some big brand name hotels make you pay for everything such wireless access, business center, breakfast, and parking. This all add up to the already pricey hotel room.
This particular hotel is going through a major renovation so right now it is your luck either getting an old run down room or a new room. Unfortunately my room fell in the former category with cracks, worn out door handle and carpet, and missing caulking in bathroom.
The front staff was friendly and helpful. I did have a little "incident " with the waiter during breakfast. I was charged for full breakfast while I only had continental breakfast. When I pointed it to the waiter; he responded " I saw your plate". That was totally unacceptable!
I managed to have my bill adjusted with an apology from the waiter but still left with a sour taste in my mouth and also wondering about the automatic 14% tip in the bill. I strongly believe that a tip depends on the quality of the service and should never be forced on the customer......

Room Tip: make sure when you make the reservation to ask for a new room.
