“Not a good experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

I booked this hotel for 9 nights while on a business trip. After flying all day I got there at 10:45 PM. I got checked in and asked if the bar was still open...all I wanted was a glass of wine to take to my room. The front desk attendant said yes, it was open until 11 PM. I walked up to the bar at 10:54. There were 2 people sitting at the bar with drinks and 3 at a table. I asked the bartender if I could get a drink and he said no, he was closed. I know that he had not yet closed out his till because I saw him doing it a half hour later. Had that been the end of it I would not be writing this review. Today, on Aug. 6th, I was reviewing my expenses, and found that they had charged my credit card for 9 nights, over $1000! I called and they said they would take care of it on Monday...they should of taken care of it immediately! I will never stay there again.

Room Tip: For an great experience in the area stay at the Newton Marriott instead.

“Spacious, clean, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

We recently stayed at the Courtyard Marlborough for the weekend of my daughter's wedding. The hotel is very convenient to Rte. 495 and many stores & restaurants. We booked a suite and a double bedded room. The regular room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The suite was extremely spacious, also clean and comfortable. Two problems we did have with the suite were: no door on the entrance to the bedroom area in the living room. This was an issue when the girls we getting ready in the bedroom area and other people we in the main room. It felt more like a very large room than a suite. If you had one person go to sleep and others were in the living room, there would be no real privacy. The second thing was although the "patio" off the living room is huge, it lacked furniture. Otherwise the hotel is amazing.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. All areas of the hotel are very clean and up-to-date. The buffet breakfast was delicious with many choices.

“Ok Hotel for the Area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 March 2011

I need to preface this review by letting you know that I'm a complete hotel snob. This was actually maybe the 2nd or 3rd time I've stayed in this type of economy, business-focused hotel. I felt super out of place as a designer, since the majority of guests seemed more...the sales type. Again, I'm just not used to this sort of hotel environment. My company-preferred hotels tend to be more the boutique variety in great neighborhoods with every possible amenity and fantastic beds and bedding, et al. Upon rolling into the Courtyard, I felt a little ghetto. No bellman, the building itself looked old and sad, and the front desk area had a cheap little market next to it. There were the usual salesman types lounging around drinking too much in the lounge-adjacent "bar," drinking cheap booze and eating bad bar food.

The room was a fair size. That's the nicest thing I have to say about it. The heating/cooling unit was super old, loud, and unreliable. The walls were paper thin, which gave me an earful of my neighbor dirty Skyping his wife in Mandarin. I proceeded to pound on the wall, scream at him in Mandarin with a Jersey accent to pipe down, and pumped up my cheap heater unit to help drown out the noise.

I was really glad I brought all of my own toiletries, as the ones provided are...well I just won't even go there. The bedding was crazy thin and scratchy, and the pillows tiny and rock hard. The TV was huge and old school, but I didn't even have a chance to turn it on. I'm ok with that. Apparently they offer some sort of breakfast service, but I hoofed it up to the Dunkin' up the road to avoid the creepy businessmen.

If you have to stay in Marlborough, you're kinda screwed. There simply isn't much out that way. The Courtyard is fine if you just need a place to crash. That's about it. I don't think I've ever packed faster.

“Not a great stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2011

We are Platinum Marriott Rewards members and stayed one night on a free certificate to play in a lacrosse tournament nearby. Positives: The location was great for the tournament, a few minutes from the Fore Kicks facility, there are a number of family restaurants a few minutes away, including Five Guys Burgers (a favorite of my son), the hotel managed to get us a room with 2 Queen beds although there were non available on the internet, the work out room was small but looked nice enough and wasn't crowded. We were really just looking for a convenient place to sleep to avoid a
1 3/4 hour drive in the morning. Negatives: Around 1:00 AM a group of people, probably from the wedding being held, continued to talk and laugh LOUDLY in the hall for at least 25 minutes before we called the front desk. We've stayed in many hotels over the years at all price points and I've never run into such rude behavior. Since I assumed they were coming from the wedding and it was a special occasion, I kept telling my husband to hold off on calling since they would probably quiet down. We were on the first floor, around the corner from the front desk and I hoped that they might do something on their own since I knew they could hear them, but that didn't happen. That was the main problem but the walls were also pretty thin, we had a hard time controlling the temperature in the room, either really hot or cold, I found a Gatorade bottle on the floor from a previous guest, the beds were not that comfortable, and the indoor pool was small and had such a strong chlorine smell my son passed on taking a swim. There was no free breakfast for being Platinum but that wasn't a problem because all we wanted was juice which we bought in the snack area and coffee in the lobby was free. I realize we were staying on a free certificate, but I had considered paying the $140 internet rate and I would have been really unhappy. There was a hockey group that stayed there the same night and I'm sure sports groups can get a lower rate. I would have probably given the hotel a "3" if there wasn't a noise problem. We'd prefer not to return but might give it another chance since it's so close to the sports facility and we can use Marriott points. We might also try the Marriotts in Westborough but it adds to the AM drive time and we are not morning people.

“Don't Stay Here ... especially if you expect to be treated like a valued Marriott Member”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2011

We stayed here for a couple of nights for a hockey tournament with our entire team (at least 10 families.) I am a Marrriott Platinum Elite Member, and I am always treated with extreme courtest and respect by Marriott staff members. That is why I continue to stay at Marriott hotels over other chains. I would never return to this hotel. The staff was rude and the hotel could not handle the large crowd staying there that weekend.

I start with check in. I am usually upgraded to another room and given free breakfast because of my Platinum status. The clerk advised (rudely) that I could not be upgraded because the hotel was full. Then when I asked about breakfast, I was told breakfast would not be free because I was paying a promotional rate (with the group.) She seemed annoyed that I even asked. That just put me in a bad mood.

The hotel wascompletely packed. We wanted to get a bite to eat in the restaurant, but we could not get a server's attention to place an order. This is not a small hotel, and as I said, it was full ... but they only had 1 bartender and 1 server on duty. But ... the two front desk people were just standing around.

The room was tiny and uncomfortable. It was just a terrible stay, especially since I just left the warm and pleasant staff from the Courtyard in Norfolk VA.

I woudl NEVER stay here again.
