The Homestead Studio Suites is certainly nothing terribly exciting. It's a little old and worn inside, surrounded by chain restaurants, right on a busy highway. But it's very easy to get to, and upon entering, we were greeted by an incredibly friendly and helpful woman at the check-in desk. Later on, she gave us a free toothbrush and toothpaste when my mother told her she'd forgotten hers. Sadly, the other staff members we encountered later on weren't quite as amazing.
The room was also quite short of amazing. Yes, it was nice to have a little kitchen of our own, but it was quite poorly stocked. We were unable even to find cups, so we called the front desk asking for them. Eventually a woman came up and gave us a measly two plastic cups! The rest of the furnishings were perfectly clean and fairly comfortable, but you could tell that some of the fixtures were a little old, and there was a slight musty smell to the room. The bathroom was huge, but disappointing. The bathtub had some rust and cracks around the faucet and edges. When I first turned the water on, it was dark brown until I let it run for about 5 minutes.
There's wireless Internet throughout the hotel for $4.95. I didn't have and problems using it, although I was surprised that I had to pay for it at all, since most hotels around here offer it for free. There aren't really any other amenities to speak of. Not even an ice machine! Though there were ice cube trays in our room's refridgerator.
The hotel has a very convenient location on Rte. 20 just off of Rte. 495. There are all kinds of stores and restaurants nearby, so you certainly won't run out of places to eat. The hotel is slightly hidden by a bank if you're coming from the east -- we passed right by it and had to circle around.
I don't think I would stay here again, but if you want your own kitchen without having to pay much for it, this isn't a bad option.
