“Perfect Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

My husband and I spent our 12th wedding anniversary at the Arbor House B&B and we would have to say it was the BEST, most comfortable, clean, hospitable place we have ever stayed. Marblehead is a beautiful village along the sea…like a step back into New England history. Our hosts, Jennifer and Dave want their guest to feel at home. They make it their business to make sure you are comfortable and well feed (it was like magic to look into the frig to see what appeared while we were out and about…Jennifer is a WONDERFUL cook!) at the same time, left us to our business of having fun and relaxing. We hope to return to this little hidden treasure that felt like home for the weekend, Thanks again Jennifer and Dave!!

“Great place to stay in Marblehead”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

My wife and I had a holiday party to attend in Marbehead and it was too far to drive to and from our home in southern, MA. On Google I happened to find the Arbor House which was just a 5 minute drive from our friend's house. Frankly, we had minimal expectations since we were just looking for a comfortable place to sleep. But from the moment I called and was greeted by both Jennifer and Dave who each picked up an extension at the same time, I could tell this was going to be a fun experience. When we arrived we were delighted to find an attractive and comfortably appointed room in a cute neighborhood of houses clustered atop a seaside knoll. Everything was perfect and our hosts had thoughtfully attended to little details that made us feel welcome and taken care of. Plus, the added benefit of a tiny kitchenette where we could open a bottle of wine, make our own coffee and prepare a snack was especaily nice. For a quick overnight like we did, or a week-long get-away to explore Marblhead and it's envrions, the Arbor House is an excellent choice and a great value.

“A hidden gem!”

I stayed at the Arbor House B&B for three nights in October 2011. I highly recommend it for single people or couples looking for a romantic getaway.

Arbor house is a single unit B&B attached to a private house, with a separate entrance and a private garden in the back. The location is beautiful - near the water in Marblehead, and with a charming pond out the front door. Though it's a bit tricky to find the road, that's also a plus, as it is quiet and tucked away from the traffic.

The hosts, Jennifer and Dave, are wonderful and gracious. They gave me great suggestions for where to eat and where to find the best beaches and walks.

Jennifer stocks the mini-kitchen with homemade goodies each day. When I was there, there were delicious scones, cookies, fresh juices, organic milk, as well as coffee and a variety of teas. In addition, Jennifer made little breakfast frittatas one day, and the next a wonderful egg-in-an-english-muffin concoction. Add to all that homemade granola, yogurt, fresh fruit - long story short - a lot of delicious food!

The unit itself has a very comfortable queen bed, a 2-person couch, and a large TV, along with the private back yard. It's very comfortable. I was made to feel very much at home.

The only two drawbacks - and these did not materially affect my enjoyment of the stay - were the size of the shower and the wooden support pole that makes getting into and out of one side of the bed a little problematic. I'm a big guy, and the shower was a really tight squeeze, but I understand that they did the best they could with a tight bathroom space.

The bed could be moved to ameliorate the issue with the wooden support pole, though. I would recommend turning the bed from its diagonal position to a regular position - there'd be enough room on each side and more room between the bed and the pole.

All that being said, again, these were minor issues. Ultimately, what was really important was that I was able to sleep contentedly in blessed quiet, and eat like a king at breakfast!

I would definitely stay at Arbor House again if I'm ever in that area.

“"A Heavenly Haven"”

We enjoyed a blissful stay in the enchanted cottage at Arbor House Bed and Breakfast in Marblehead, Massachusetts and feel so fortunate to have discovered it and to have been able to celebrate our 56th wedding anniversary there. It was a serenely idyllic (and romantic..even at our age!) holiday for us.
We have been staying at B&B's throughout the U.S. and Europe for many years. The Arbor House, with its magnificent setting , its lovely and welcoming cottage and its gracious, caring and hospitable hosts, is at the very top of the list. We will let our dear ones know about this paradise and, all being well, we hope to return for many future anniversaries.

“Delightful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

My best friend and I stayed here as a fun "girls getaway" and couldn't have been happier. The hosts were extremely helpful in getting the lay of the land and their suggestions for destinations and restaurants were great. Every day they plied us with delicious home-made baked goods, cheeses and fresh fruits, which we really enjoyed. We had all the amenities we needed and were very comfortable. A delightful experience all around!
