I stayed at the Arbor House B&B for three nights in October 2011. I highly recommend it for single people or couples looking for a romantic getaway.
Arbor house is a single unit B&B attached to a private house, with a separate entrance and a private garden in the back. The location is beautiful - near the water in Marblehead, and with a charming pond out the front door. Though it's a bit tricky to find the road, that's also a plus, as it is quiet and tucked away from the traffic.
The hosts, Jennifer and Dave, are wonderful and gracious. They gave me great suggestions for where to eat and where to find the best beaches and walks.
Jennifer stocks the mini-kitchen with homemade goodies each day. When I was there, there were delicious scones, cookies, fresh juices, organic milk, as well as coffee and a variety of teas. In addition, Jennifer made little breakfast frittatas one day, and the next a wonderful egg-in-an-english-muffin concoction. Add to all that homemade granola, yogurt, fresh fruit - long story short - a lot of delicious food!
The unit itself has a very comfortable queen bed, a 2-person couch, and a large TV, along with the private back yard. It's very comfortable. I was made to feel very much at home.
The only two drawbacks - and these did not materially affect my enjoyment of the stay - were the size of the shower and the wooden support pole that makes getting into and out of one side of the bed a little problematic. I'm a big guy, and the shower was a really tight squeeze, but I understand that they did the best they could with a tight bathroom space.
The bed could be moved to ameliorate the issue with the wooden support pole, though. I would recommend turning the bed from its diagonal position to a regular position - there'd be enough room on each side and more room between the bed and the pole.
All that being said, again, these were minor issues. Ultimately, what was really important was that I was able to sleep contentedly in blessed quiet, and eat like a king at breakfast!
I would definitely stay at Arbor House again if I'm ever in that area.
