“Don't stay there. They have bed bugs!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2010

My partner and I stayed there on Saturday, September 4th, during our cross-country move. In the morning we woke up with small bites that grew throughout the day into hard welts. I am certain that these bites were from bed bugs. 4 days later, they are still here and they hurt and itch. This was the only motel we stayed at during our move. When I called to explain the problem to the motel, they didn't seem to believe it and informed me that they have pest control every month and then told me they would let the manager know. At the very least, I think I should've gotten a partial or full refund and more importantly, some kind of guarantee that they would take care of this before other travelers stay there.

“Just fine.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2009

This place was fine but not great. My husband and I stayed in Lee, MA for only one night - so it was Ok for such a short time. The website is very misleading - with the music and scrolling picutres of nature hikes - I imagined that this Inn would be very picturesque and tranquil and I did not find it to be at all. It was basically just another motel like any other you might find along a busy street. It was clean enough to be comfortable - but it did have some cob webs on the cieling and dust on the air conditioner. Our nieghbors were really loud and annoying - but that is not the fault of the Inn's staff. The amenities were nice - shampoo, coffee maker, etc... The room and bathroom were very big - big enough for my husband to bring his expensive bike into and still we did not feel crowded at all. The pool was very nice, and the beds were comfortable and clean.

“Never rent a room from "The barefoot Innkeeper"”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2009

We were on our way to Maine, tired and needed a place to stay. Looked in our trip saver coupon, and thought we would stay in Lee. When we went to check in around 9:00 p.m. we had to ring the bell for the innkeeper (Fred). He told us that he didn't have any rooms that we could use the coupon for, so he quoted us a higher rate, and we said that we would drive down the road farther, he then said (oh wait), I can probably give you a room for that price. All we wanted was a clean room and a place to lay our heads. At first glance the room appeared to be clean. Fred told us he cleaned the room himself that day. Of course a red flag should of went up when Fred (the barefoot innkeeper) went in to show us the room he grabbed a cell phone charger that was still plugged into the room and went to the room next door and handed it to the person next door. But like fools we decided to stay. Only to find dirty sheets (buggers wiped on the corner of the sheet), Went to the next bed only to find black hairs under the covers and I'm sure it had been slept in without changing , So who knows if the bathroom was cleaned or not. So we used our flip flops to take a shower in. Defiantly a mold smell from the bathroom. My husband who is allergic to mold has been sick ever since. Would not ever recommend this motel to anyone and would never stay here again. Thank goodness the rest of our trip was great, and found brand new hotels for the same amount of money. Next time I will drive that 30 minutes extra.

“Okay since there's not much around”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2009

We booked our rooms directly with the hotel and I made it very clear we needed to have connecting rooms. I was told there would be no problem with the request. We were up in the Berkshires for a family wedding and I had three teens in the connecting room. When we arrived he said he didn't have us in connecting rooms and they didn't have any left, I told him fine but we weren't staying, he did some moving around and after waiting we got the connecting rooms. He was extremely nice but I wouldn't rely on them getting it right, if the other people who wanted the connecting room had arrived first, we would have had to scramble for another hotel further away. There were several wedding guests in the hotel and more coming.
The rooms felt run down, old, and my socks were black from the rugs. The locations was great for the weekends events but, it's old and tired looking and needs updating and needs the carpets cleaned. We were putting our wedding clothes in a not so nice half make shift closet. We did not eat the breakfast we went to a great place across the street instead.
