This is a lovely hotel. The room was spacious and clean it was an oceanfront view.it had a micro and fridge if thats important to you. There is a restaurant little pricey downstairs. 30 min to downtown Boston for whale watching and Quincy Market.
P.s to the man that came to our assistance when our daughter finger got stuck in the elevator we thank u a million.

“one night escape”

what a great way for a quick one night getaway, the room was clean and comfortable, and the view was spectacular as we watched the storm come in. my only complaint was it was a little noisy, I think under the carpets are old wooden floors as we could hear them creaking throughout the night so much so we thought someone was in our room at one time. other than that we enjoyed our stay, had lunch at the grill which was excellent and breakfast the next morning was in a lovely dining room looking out over the ocean.

“Great experience”

The off season rates cannot be beat! I got a great room with a fire place, large tub, and friendly service. The first room we got was one with two small beds, we went back to the desk and asked for a larger bed. The girl at the front quickly changed our room. The only downside was that our initial view was the ocean, and the final view was of a tree. Parking was right on the water and extremely close! Great value and we will deffinately go back.

“Showing age, needs some polish in service & rooms”

I don't know why this is place is called a resort, except that it is in front of the ocean. Checking in, they couldn't find our reservation, and it seemed to take forever. I stayed in two different rooms, because of a mixup in the reservation. I've never experienced this before: when I came back at the end of the first day, instead of putting my bags in my new room, as most hotels do, they made me go through the whole check-in procedure again, including reprocessing my credit card! Directions to rooms were poorly marked (we saw multiple guests with bags looking lost), and I had to walk what seemed like an eternity to my room--it was in a separate building with a skywalk to it (I wasn't told that at checkin). The room had a big stain on the rug. Yuck. Sliding door had been left unlocked. Room on Night 2 was reached by going up several steps (again no mention by front desk) so be careful if you have accessibility issues or bags on a cart. My colleague left the keys for the car at the front desk for me. The front desk person said it absolutely wasn't there, only looked when I insisted, still insisted it wasn't there, until another person arrived and pulled it from a cubby directly in front of her. No apologies. Breakfast in dining room was dreary, took forever, cold coffee, horrible service, and there were only 3 tables being served! Parking was open air, a block away, and there are limited spaces. So you have to park and walk back to the lobby in the weather. Second day there were no open spaces, so I walked back to the lobby (again in the rain), and they told me to park in the dirt lot next to it. So I parked in the unpaved, unlit lot, and made sure I had nothing left in the car--glad it was a rental! And why couldn't the front desk explain the first time where to park if the few spots in the paved lot are filled, saving a guest the walk back? It's great to see the ocean and a beach so close to downtown Boston, but wish there was a better choice than this.

“Good Massachusetts Beach Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

This is one of the old and respected beach resorts south of Boston. Situated on a large cresecent beach, it is easily accessed by taking the ferry from Boston; the hotel then sends a van for you at the pier.

Many celebrities have stayed here, as evidenced by the autographed photos in the lobby, including the legendary Bowzer from Sha-Na-Na. The hotel is a mazelike warren, so pay attention to how to find your room again. Rooms are clean and the best are those that face the beach, and the scenery is quite nice from the balconies.

One of the best draws of the hotel is the Paragon Grill. My wife, her high school friend and her friend's father and I ate an early dinner here and everyone liked their meal. I had the Cajun-style swordfish (blackened), and I must say it was surprisingly good, very good in fact. The restaurant serves harpooned swords, which is far more environmentally conscious that swords that have been long-lined.

Looking for a decent beach resort for a vacation in Massachusetts? Definitely consider the Nantasket Beach Resort.
