After losing power in Connecticut after our October freak snowstorm, we were frantic to find a hotel to stay at as I have a brain disease and my husband is undergoing chemo. We drove around for 6 hours one evening trying to find a hotel that wasn't booked up already. I went through Expedia and was given 2 rooms (1 King bed/2 Double Beds, across the hall from each other), so I jumped at the chance. When I arrived I stood in line with 20 people ahead of me checking in, it was madness but a controlled madness as everyone was stressed from this storm. After getting to the front desk I was told that the hotel was not honoring any Expedia reservations as their system was down and Expedia was not supposed to be booking anyone into the hotel since they were filled to capacity. At this point, with 3 kids in tow I thought we were going back to our freezing cold house with no power. I was then approached by the manager who asked me what happened and I told her. She told me not to worry, they would honor the Expedia reservations and gave us our 2 rooms. The 2 Double Bed room was large and very clean, bathrooms were clean, there were enough towels for all of us and the King sized room was even nicer. The beds were hard in the double bed room, but at that point we didn't care, we had heat, electricity and a bed to sleep in. Hotel housekeeping actually listens to the Do Not disturb sign if you leave it on your door and does not bother you at all. When I asked for extra towels, another blanket or extra pillows, I was always helped by the housekeeping staff immediately. We stayed 7 days in this hotel and got to know the staff well and each and every one of them was wonderful to us (and the Friendly's Restaurant employees too). This hotel isn't fancy, but it is cleaner than a motel and they did a good job on renovating it. Just a FYI: The 4th floor does house "community service" people, but they are kept in a certain wing of the hotel so if you are worried about someone openly using drugs or kids running around in the hallways, I never encountered any of that in all of the 7 days we were there. Every person we dealt with at this hotel went far and above to make us feel comfortable in this stressful time in our lives. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
