Arrived Wednesday night about 8 after call 2 confirm vacancy. My 1st choice of Motel was closed, @ least not in the office. The Inn cost $50. + tax, abt $55. Searching InterNet found several places including this, with average rate of $44. Not booked. Walked from Hamp Plaza about an hour due to storm, dodging cars. Part of the way had sidewalk. Temp out side was around 20*. Vacancy light was on and some1 was near the office. One other car besides truck was out front. Walking in was slippery since no plowing or sanding was done lately. The snow was rutted with tire tracks. Rough going; My gut feeling was this is not a 5-star place. I Was Desperate, sweaty, having missed the bus there was nothing else. Maybe take cab next time. I had 3 crisp $20's from ATM, but the person refused to take 'em. Why? Demanding Exact amount, a $10 and $5, that Im shocked. With some glaring, person went for key to open cash drawer and hand me 5 $1 bills change and a plastic slide card key for the room. Told the room # ( U do need 2 know). Asked, where was it? Check out time is 10 am. Sidewalk was clear until to parking area in front of building. Had to cross this unclear area of snow & ice. Good thing Im wearing waffle sole Brahmas. The card key after placed properly unlocked the door. There was no obvious problem with the place, altho heat was turned to around 50* so turned it to 70. Heater fan was noisy. There was AC that I wood not need. Door had lock as well as chain. Hatfield town is not known as high crime area. Can probably have it unlocked. Store nearby didnt have prefer shampoo but had microwave oven the room lacked. Cube fridge was clean but unplugged. Plug was a chore to get out of the back grill. It was perched on far side of bed in corner on night stand. An outlet near it was too far 4 cord to reach. Settled 4 extension cord bed lamps plugged into. That or carry to other side of bed where lamps plug in. Careful to open it and adjust temperature, fridge fell over side on to bed. To recharge cell phone used single, not double socket provided 6 ft above floor, window side. Strange place 4 that. Charger 6-ft cord reached night stand & held fone. Land line fone cord reach the head of bed if need b. Still cold after an hour, turn heat up. Heater going near constantly. Not seeing any laundry facility, moved chair and table in front of heater to dry soaked clothes. Bed was big enuf for 2. 25" color TV with ComCast Cable on bureau, but no usual channel list. Good Im OK with surfing. No usual warm greeting items on door or in drawers except fone book. Shower had tub and water was hot, giving room and sinus needed moisture. Outlet in bathroom 6-ft up over sink. Did not apear 2 charge cell fone. Free soap but No usual hair dryer.
