went for my nieces wedding which was Oct. 9th @ Essex Lodge but couldn't stay there because was with handicapped mom. Overlooked bay with tiny public beach that is dog friendly after Sept. 15th. Hiked @ dawn, beautiful sunrise! Went into town for gr8 restaurants and also brought back Lobster in a carry on! Just the right size box. After you get the hang of driving the round-abouts it is very quick and easy to get around the area in a rental. Really need a car if you want to see the area well. But is possible to walk around town. Only bad driving experience was getting out of the Boston airport, the tunnels suck and you have to use them. Just get ready to get jammed up.

Stayed for one overnight in December and found the place exactly the way the reviews were. Front desk very helpful, nice big clean room, excellent views and great location. The rooms seemed wider than a typical hotel room which made it feel so much bigger. Great views of Good Harbor Beach, and in easy walking distance. The only thing that might have added to the continental breakfast was some juice~they had coffee, tea, & hot chocolate, but nothing really cold to drink to go along with the yummy breads. But this is no biggie~a wonderful place to stay and I highly recommend it!!!

I discovered the Vista Motel about five years ago while on vacation with my daughter who was eight or nine at the time. The initial impression one gets from street level and as you ascend the steep driveway leading to the hotel and a spectacular ocean view is, homey, friendly and family run. The grounds and rooms are meticulously maintained. The positives don't stop here, the staff and owners could not be more friendly, professional and helpful. They are there in a genuine way for you if you need them, not in that phony" yes m'am / sir, no m'am / sir" way that you get from clerks in chain hotels. You do not get the feeling here that you are just another tourist passing your way through.
I guess you could almost call us "regulars" at the Vista now as my fiance' and I have now been there seven or eight times and look foreword to our next chance for a weekend get away to head back to Glaucester.and The Vista Motel.

This is our second visit to the Vista Hotel and we loved it both times. The management is extremely accommodating, and what you lose in luxury, you gain in personable communication. Our dog loved being so close to a beach that is open to dogs in the Fall. The room is comfortable and clean. The setting worked for us, and it is in easy driving distance to a lot of areas such as Essex, Newburyport and of course Rockport. I highly recommend this place, especially if you are traveling with your dog.
