We went to Glocester to visit the ocean side and catch up with old friends as well as to have some much over due time together. Firstly, the room was dark and nasty, the carpets were buckled, the chain lock was busted off and the AC blew hot moldy smelling air. Welcome to your first five minutes at the Oceanview. Upon asking to change rooms, we were rudley informed that we were lucky to have a room at all as there were two wedding groups in the hotel.
On Friday night we had our local friends meet us at the hotel to have dinner in their restaraunt. We could not have drinks first as there was no bartender. When we were finally seated, we got no water, no bread and butter. We could hear shouting and profanity from the kitchen, and thought this was most uninviting. The food, I got the filet, my wife got the scrod, the filet was overcooked, actually hard and the scrod looked as though it had been dropped on the floor. The waitress told us that the scrod was "kind of old" and offered to bring something else. So we ordered the salmon. We never got that dish and the scrod was still on the bill. We spoke with the manager, who offered us free drinks. Our friends took us to the Causeway Restaraunt as what we actually got from our meal at the inn was ineadible. Our local friends told us that this place is known for high prices and a creepy psycho owner.
My wife actually slept above the covers in her clothing as we felt the room wasn't secure and was dirty enough that we didn't want to make to much contact with our surroundings. The noise level was awful, we would have called the desk to complain but our room phone did not work. I went to the desk to complain and walked into an arguement between the owner and some bridal party member about a bill. Again yelling, swearing. There were three people at the desk and not one of them could find the time to deal with my concerns. Customer service here is non-existant. The owner said, We will "deal with you when we feel like it". I had seen enough. We left the room and changed hotels, twice as clean at half the price. Our credit card was charged a 200 dollar fee for "incidentals" and we never even finished the nights stay, never used the towels even. Upon calling the hotel to discover how this charge could be reversed we were told that if we v.e not recieved our deposit back that we must have smoked in the room or taken the beddings/towels. We are disputing the charge. We never even spent a whole night there but were charged a total of nearly 400dollars for a MOTEL ROOM.
If you like being ripped off and treated like garbage, by all means stay at this hotel

Let me start off by saying….Upon booking a hotel room, all non-wedding guests are informed before we take their credit card if there is going to be a wedding during the duration of their stay, therefore, all non-wedding guests have the opportunity to decide whether or not they want to stay with us with the knowledge that it may be noisy during the reception.
We strive to keep our rooms updated, properly sanitized, and secure. All of our rooms are inspected before we rent them; all doors have a dead bolt on them, and all sliding doors have a drop security bar.
Next, when the restaurant is open we always have a bartender here. Unless they are getting stock or ice, they are always waiting to serve customers at the bar.
When seated for dinner, the first thing you receive as you are sitting down is a fresh glass of ice water. Once your order is put in, the kitchen puts the rolls in the oven before they even start the appetizers. And please tell me, what restaurant or server would not only serve bad fish (very dangerous) but would tell the customer it is no good.
In regards to the profanity and shouting in the kitchen and guest areas, we are very professional and in all that we do. There is no possibility that any of our guests overheard any type of shouting or cursing from anywhere on this property. We would never disrespect any of our wedding parties or tell a guest “we will deal with you when we feel like it”.
Last but not least, we do have a strict non-smoking policy. Each guest is aware of this policy and is asked to initial next to the non-smoking policy on their registration card at check-in. Even though it cost us a lot of money for the sanitization services and products to clean the room after a guest breaks this rule, to this day, we have never actually enforced the rule of charging a guest for the costly clean-up.
Sincerely,
The Ocean View Inn and Resort
