My husband and I stayed at Ashley Inn in May 2011, the weekend before Memorial Day. The first night, Friday, we were the only guests at the Inn and felt a bit alone (the owners live in a house next door). More guests arrived on Saturday but we hardly saw anyone. If you're looking for privacy and quiet Ashley Inn is a great choice.
We stayed in a fairly large room at the very back of the Inn over looking the pebble parking area (the grounds are quite nice - no compliants). Our room had a very small balcony attached - not big enough for a chair - but very nice to check weather and lets in tons of light. Our room had a king size bed, 2 wingback chairs, loveseat and coffee table. The room also had a gas fireplace and TV (which we didn't use). Our bathroom was very small but adequate. The decor is a bit dated and the bedding could use to be replaced, although the mattress itself was very comfortable and the linens clean. We peeked in several of the other rooms (again, we were the only guests one night) and our room was by far the largest of any we viewed. Honestly, I would have been very disappointed in a couple of the rooms as they were very small.
To be fair, we aren't big B&B people and like a little more activity and to at least see a few other guests. If you do decide on Ashley request the room with the patio...definitely worth the extra money.
