“Wonderful B & B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We needed a place to stay on a short business visit to the area and we left with nothing but good feelings after having stayed at Fort Hill. The home and cottage are in great shape and offer a true Cape Cod experience. The breakfasts were superb, worth a every penny, and most importantly Gordon and Jean are perfect hosts. Gordon's knowledge, both worldy and that of the local area are keen, [we received great advice on where to dine] and Jean's conversation at breakfast was wonderful with descriptions of the homes history and surrounding area. We rent out a small cabin of ours to others in Vermont, our home state, and we like to be treated when were away from our place and Fort Hill certainly treated us right. We hope to come back sometime and enjoy Gordan's and Jean's company again.

“Classic, lovely B&B in amazing location”

My wife and I spent a night here one weekend in November. It's a classic, lovely B&B. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home when we arrived. Our room was very private and comfortable, and the breakfast the next morning was fantastic - some of the best pancakes I've ever had.

Moreover, the location on Fort Hill is amazing. Walk out the front gate and down the street, and you're at one of the Fort Hill trail entrances. Fort Hill is one of my favorite places to walk on the Cape. Lots of different terrain, including the swamps and boardwalk, and great ocean views. You could spend a weekend here and never get in your car.

Highly recommended. And as a bonus recommendation, go the the Cape in autumn! The weather is still nice and it's so much quieter than in summertime.

“Fort Hill vacation @ fort Hill B & B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

The location alone was reason to want to return. The views and proximity to Nauset Beach and Fort Hill were inspiring. We stayed in the Emma suit, but , if we do return, we might strongly consider the Cottage. The breakfasts were better and more varied than we anticipated, the innkeepers consciousness and consideration of us, as guests, was obvious through out our stay. They continuously gave us advice as to dining and recreation that made us feel that they knew us.
The quality of the rooms and service, was in our opinion, first class, and we have upgraded our bedding at home as a result of the experience.

Room Tip: The Cottage, the Emma Suit, and the Lucille, in that order, in reality it didn't matter.

“summer delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

We were so happily delighted to have found Jean and Gordon Avery's Fort Hill B & B. Just driving up to the house already promised a serene, well-appointed simplicity. The view down the road, the light we were fortunate to arrive in continued our good feelings. What surpassed this initial bouyancy were Jean and Gordon. Their warmth remains intact after so many years of hosting the many and varied guests that their enterprise entails. Every sumptous breakfast was filled the richness of conversation that Gordon so graciously emanated. The accomodations have touches that bespeaks the thoughtfulness of the Averys. The heart of their thoughtfulness continued as they refunded a one day early departure because of hurricane Irene. These are simply good people. Jack and Arlette Wiener

“Another Perfect Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

We just spent another perfect weekend at The Fort Hill Bed and Breakfast. The Nantucket Cottage is luxurious, private and has great views of the National Seashore. Breakfast will last you until dinner and is always different. We make annual treks to Fort Hill B & B and they will continue as there is no place nicer on the Cape. Relaxation and pampering at its finest.
