“OK value, but don't expect overnight help.”

The smoke alarm in our room started blasting at 6:15 a.m. The motel's phone was on answering machine, the office was locked and not due to open until 8:30. No one responded to our answering machine plea for help until after 8:00. Nearly two hours of climbing on a chair and shutting the thing off every 3 or 4 minutes. No compensation offered. Fortunately, it wasn't a real fire or other life-threatening emergency.

Room Tip: Stairs to rooms 11 and 12 are steep and winding. No good for seniors.

Unfortunately the alarm went off the one morning that Tom "slept in" until 8AM until just before opening. Normally he is up at 6 -6:30AM (We work 14 hour days in the summer). Our phone is set up with an auditory beep to let us know that a message is on the voicemail. He did replace the faulty alarm as soon as he was made aware of the problem. We have always been able to hear the phone extension that is in the living room at the bottom of the stairs but last fall we added French doors and unfortunately they got closed. Now that we are aware that this could happen we have made a point of keeping those doors open.
We did apologize and attempt to compensate these guests by allowing their grandchildren (who were not staying with us) to use the pool. We thought this was acceptable compensation and they seemed satisfied with our profuse apologies.
We always make a point of making it clear that our basic motel rooms are on the 2nd floor when booking so that those not up to climbing stairs can choose a 1st floor unit instead.
Unfortunately electronic equipment is sometimes faulty but we follow all safety guidelines on smoke and CO 2 detectors to protect our guests. This was the first and only time that we had problems with the new ones that were installed last year.

“Calm, relaxing family friendly although rooms a little tired.”

Great location for the Cape. Although you're only 200 yards from the main road you feel secluded. Set in a wooded area with clean pool, hammocks, seating etc it's a great safe location for children. Rooms are clean and functional but things inside could do with modernising. No breakfast served in contrast to other comments. All in all though great value.

Thank you for the nice review. Just wanted to let readers know that we are in the process of renovating all of our bathrooms with new marble tops and bathroom fixtures. The cost is prohibitive to do them all at once so we are doing a few every year. We currently have 7 of the thirteen units completed and will do at least three more this winter. Eight of our units have kitchenettes and all have refrigerators and coffee makers so we just put out a coffee cake and coffee on weekends as a special treat but we do not serve breakfast. We strive to offer a good value and clean, comfortable accommodations in a peaceful setting away from the road noise.

“Lovely little place”

Stayed here for 5 nights in July after seeing Trip Advisor reviews. Motel is set in a little grove of trees so that even though it's just off Route 6 it feels quite rural and peaceful. We were in Unit 8 (2 bedroomed efficiency). The unit was small but really well designed and had everything we needed. There was a double bedroom and a twin - both with storage closets and a chest of drawers. There's also a living area with a large sofa, TV and dining table (can easily sit 4). Off the living area is a shower room (very clean and looked recently renovated), and a kitchen (small but just big enough to prepare a meal - full cooker, toaster and a fridge freezer). Outside we had a couple of chairs and a small table, and then a picnic bench table where we usually ate in the evening. There are also hammocks dotted about the area.

The pool was just across the driveway from the room - quite a decent sized pool for a motel with a few loungers and chairs. Also just beside our unit was the laundry which was great as we had about 4 loads of washing to do. There's also a vending machine in the laundry to get coke etc. You need to bring your own toiletries as the ones provided aren't up to much (although we expected this with a motel so didn't mind). Also didn't seem to have enough towels (there were 4 of us and were only given 3 bath towels a day which seemed a bit odd).

Motel is convenient for the sights of Cape Cod. There are some lovely beaches nearby (we quite liked Marconi Beach even though it seems to be less popular (this meant it was easier to get parked at!)). In Wellfleet (about 3 miles up Route 6) there is a drive-in movie theatre which our teenage boys loved. There's also mini-golf and restaurants nearby. In Orleans (2 mins drive) there's a big supermarket, pharmacy and liquor store to get all the essentials. I think it was around a 40 min drive to Provincetown. There is also a nice bay beach (First Encounter) a couple of miles up the road. We went there at night just to see the sunset (which was really spectacular).

Everyone we dealt with at the motel was really friendly, especially our housekeeper who did a great job of cleaning up all the sand we brought in from the beach every day!

If we come to the Cape again I wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else!

“Have been coming here for years!”

My family and I have been staying at Cove Bluffs for years now, since I was a young teen (I'm now in my late 20s). It is our "home" on the Cape, since finding it, we have never stayed anywhere else! I think at this point, we have stayed in almost every type of unit they offer, from the two bedroom to the large studio to the motel room (which was perfect when we traveled with my brother and his wife).

The kitchen that is available in many of the rooms is such a help. Eating out for a week on the Cape can be so pricey and with a supermarket very close by on Rt. 6, it is great to have a full kitchen (stove, fridge, all plates/utensils/pots) available. We love to cook out on the charcoal grills as well, and there are picnic tables throughout the property as well as eat-in kitchenettes in many of the units.

The rooms themselves are very comfortable and super clean. The bathroom of the unit we stayed at this year was recently renovated. Each bedroom has a large closet and dresser. The area is very quiet and peaceful, just off Rt. 6. The in-ground pool is perfect to cool down after a day of hiking or post-beach, and there's a lovely gazebo to read the morning paper.

We've always loved the location of this hotel as well. The Outer Cape is much less commercial and crowded than other areas and this hotel is only minutes from the highway portion of Rt. 6. There are many restaurants nearby both in Orleans and further along in Eastham and the hotel is only a short ride from the National Seashore beaches (Nauset Light is our fave) and the bay beaches (First Encounter is wonderful for sunset).

We love this hotel so much and my summer vacations to the Cape would not be the same without it! As an adult, I still very much look forward to our trips to Eastham and staying at Cove Bluffs.

“Perfect family place”

What a great over night we had at Cove Bluffs. We were visiting friends at the cape, but need a place of our own to sleep. The staff/owners were friendly, the room was spotless and it was just what we needed. They were able to accomodate us with a cot...comfy too! The pool was perfect after a day at the beach...so was the basketball hoop and playhouse! Thanks for a great night!
