After reading the reviews I wasn't sure what to expect but I took a chance anyway since my budget was tight. My review is long but hopefully the details will help others. My stay was the last couple of days in August until the middle of the first week in Sept.

The pool area is nice with trees around; the pool guy was there to inspect the water so they keep it clean. Parking is across the driveway from the front doors which is nicer than when cars are directly outside the door. There are a couple of chairs by the front doors for relaxation. The guests were a mix of young and old.

The beach is a short distance from the motel and is pretty quiet, good for collecting shells, relaxing, not too many kids around. The beach is smaller than others and there are shells and seaweed at the water edge. It's peaceful.....

The motel owner David was extremely friendly and accommodating. He had coffee and expresso for the guests. My sleep was short the first night; 7.a.m. (4 a.m. Los Angeles time!) due to no drapes, only blinds that do not keep out light. By the time the office opened I was calmer and asked David to please fix the problem or I would need to find another place. I suggested covering the windows with a dark sheet, anything, I just needed sleep. When I returned to the motel later the windows were covered as well as the small front door that had adjustable glass panes for air circulation and privacy. David also took the extra step of purchasing a night mask which I truly appreciated, and still use. It's terrible being a light sleeper! He also left an extention cord for my hairdryer since the bathroom doesn't have an outlet, not a big issue.

My room was dated ( 60's style furniture), but clean. The towels are on the thin side, and I don't recall seeing lotion, shampoo or other amenities except a couple of small packages of make removal lotion.

My one complaint is my bed, perhaps the other rooms have better ones. If I were David I would invest in new beds and keep a few down pillows around for those of us who don't have allergies. He would realize his investment is a short period of time. I'll deal with almost anything except an uncomfortable bed. It didn't help that I had just stayed at the LeMeridian in Boston that has wonderful plush soft beds, but I usually adjust quickly! My solution to reasonably priced hotel beds is to keep a down filled comforter with a friend when I travel back east, but even this didn't help, the bed was still too hard and uncomfortable. I would have prefered to pay slightly more, be farther from the water but have a somewhat comfortable bed.

I don't know how David would have reacted if I insisted that he return my money, but in my case I couldn't have asked for better treatment. He went out of his way to make my stay more comfortable and was not argumentative which would have spoiled my vacation spirit.

I wish David all the best. and I'd love to make this my home away from home when I vacation there each year, but the bed is an issue for me. Hopefully, he will consider the reviews and slowly buy some new beds or at least one for me! :) I hope he becomes enormously successful!

We booked an "oceanview" for one week. This place is very clean, but extremely dated. You can tell it was built in the 50's and no renovations since. Our "oceanview" room had a huge tree in front of the window and if you turned sideways and got up on a chair, you could MAYBE see a small slice of the ocean. What a joke.

We went down to the office the next morning and asked for our money back. We explained to the innkeeper that he had embellished the description of the motel and he accused us of calling him a liar! He kept 160.00 of our initial deposit and then tried to keep the taxes for the rest of the 286.00 that we had paid. He finally gave us the 286.00, but kept 160.00 Unbelievable!!! I even explained to him that this was our honeymoon-this guy is a complete jerk.

We found another motel for 55.00 a night and were very happy.

I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

The old landing motel is a basic motel that is cleaner than most and with a location better than most. The inn keeper is friendly and the lobby coffee is great. The beach is 40 yards away. the beach area is small, so it is good for an off season day - not sure how it would be for a hot august one. It is a great place for a cape vacation.

I came to Cape Cod for the sole purpose of reading, writing and relaxing. I chose to stay at The Old Landing primarily to be right at the beach. I was fortunate to have sunshine for my entire stay and, interestingly enough, the ocean temperature was unusually warm. T he evenings at The Old Landing were amazing. The air was cool, the ocean breeze delightful and always a spot on the grounds of the motel to sit and read under a cluster of pine trees. Every time I entered the lobby, I met the most interesting people from all over the world. The coffee was flowing, the conversation friendly and the spirit was electrifying. There was something special about this place. Something positive, something unique and somethin g perhaps reminiscent of a more wholesome time in America. Somehow, I think that the building and lovely surroundings has retained the spirit of a more innocent time in America. All of these factors combined to give me a true vacation, an escape. Not just an escape to the beach, an escape to a wonderful experience in Old Cape Cod........................

This was our third stay at the Old Landing and It has officially become our "home away from home" David, you better get used to seeing us!
Firstly, David has put his heart into this wonderful motel. The staff is fantastic and both the girls and David are very accomidating. The rooms are very clean as is the outside.
Second, the location is the best on the Cape, going in either direction. There is so much for families to do within reasonable driving distance.
Third, this is so tranquil. Yes, a limited number of rooms BUT that's part of its quaintness. You sit outside and it's quiet, no traffic. We have met some of the most interesting people and yes, have even just recently made friends. THAT, is the type of place this is.
Four, where else can you sneak off to the beach in your pjs with a cup of David's famous coffee and enjoy the peace of the ocean and breeze on your face in peace?
We look forward to our next trip and are considering bringing friends to share our experiences with.
Anyone looking for big hotel/motel services look elsewhere. This is one of the old fashioned motels many remember visiting as youngsters. Simply put: charming.
