“pretty scary”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2010

We scrambled to find a cheap room the day before our friends wedding in gloucester and this was it. I can't camplain about the price because it was dirt cheap, but the grounds were dark, and outdated. we arrived there around 3 am and the man was sleepy but friendly. The stairs and deck leading up to the room looked as though they might collapse. The room its self was a pretty basic cheap hotel room. The most scary was when we woke up to realize that the lock on our door was messed up and we had slept the entire night WITH THE DOOR UNLOCKED.

“WANT SLEEP GO SOMEWHERE ELSE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

We stayed at this location for 4 nights. Upon arrival we were given keys to a room where the individuals have not checked out. Than were given keys to a room that was not cleaned.
The following morning we were awaken to a jack hammer out our front door at 8:00 am when I went to complain was told there was nothing they could do. This was the worst hotel we ever stay at. I would not stay even if offered for free. Front Desk is a joke they were unwilling to help with any situation, they rather you leave and not bother them. Had problems with the Wi-Fi through the stay of the hotel. They kept mentioning that the server was going to get fixed the next day which came and went with no fixes.

“Cheap and ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2010

Nothing to rave about. Staff wasn't overtly friendly but they were helpful enough and check-in checkout were quick. Room wasn't really dirty but more lacked maintenance. The light fixtures were definitely old and the room itself was very dark. Beds also weren't the most comfortable. Biggest gripe was the thin walls: heard people watching tv, someone revved a motorcycle engine in the parking lot a bunch of times, people were laughing and arguing and we heard it all.

We were there to see friends so location didn't bother us but it is like a ten minute ride into Salem. Take that into account. And there were also definitely people coming into the free breakfast, taking food and leaving. I think someone else wrote on here about transient families and that's all very possible. No one seemed harmful though.

Also, we were 3 girls so it was a little creepy pulling in since it's off a highway and then even further behind the road so it's a bit secluded. There was a random guy just hanging outside the reception kind of staring at us and there was what looked like blood on the window blinds in the room next to us.

But I will say that we had friends staying at the motel 6 and they were complaining every day about something so we spent slightly more and got slightly better accommodation. Still wasn't great though. Just be cautious.

“Cockroaches! That say's enough!”

I am not the traveler, but I am the solution to this problem. My sister and brother-in-law are currently at the Day's Inn in Danvers. They planned on staying for 3 nights (10/17-10/20). This was their first night and to my surprise, my sister called to ask me what she should do about COCKROACHES in their room. I was disgusted! She told me she killed one at 2am but was not sure at the time what it was. This morning, they found and killed 3 more. She now realized they are roaches. Needless to say, she went to the manager, got a refund on their first night and are on their way OUT. I am a seasoned traveler, have stayed in 100's of hotels/motels up and down the Easy coast and let me tell you, this is absolutely unacceptable. I will now spend my morning finding them somewhere to stay within the vacinity that is COCKROACH free.

“its bad... really bad.”

Let me start off by saying I am a Ramada/Days Inn/ Holiday Inn type of seasoned traveler. This hotel is horrifying! Upon pulling up to the hotel, there were young girls holding babies following our car and watching us get out. They watched our EVERY MOVE. I travel with lacoste luggage and a gucci purse, i can honestly say i covered all signs of brand names with my jacket. We double checked that our car was locked and alarmed. Upon walking to our room, all the carpeting is distroyed and stained. We passed a few open rooms so i looked into the door way.. and it appears that there were families living there. There appeared to be a young boy was sitting at the desk doing homework. At night, I felt like I was in Harlem. Screaming drunk young people, babies screaming ,and horrible profanity at 4 AM. If the hotel was $70 a night, I would have no problem. I was charged $120+ PER NIGHT. Just for the record, we are from NYC and when my NYPD cop boyfriend is nervous, its pretty bad. This is not a place for young children.
