I recently stayed at the Inn at Blueberry Hill with my wife and while the inn is set on a very nice property and has great potential, we were disappointed in the quality of the service, the air conditioning and the general lack of value given the somewhat high priced rooms. The inn is apparently under new management and the level of service being offered is inconsistent, with staff incredibly helpful with some things, such as helping out with rides to the store, and indifferent to others.
Our biggest complaint is definitely the air conditioning system, which others have mentioned. On the first night the air conditioning did not work at all and the temperature was in the 80s and humid. When we mentioned this to the front desk the next morning they blamed the problem on the previous owners who had "installed an antiquated air conditioning system" and that someone in our building complained that it was too cold so they turned off the entire A/C system for the night. Not only does it seem ridiculous not to be able to control the temperature of your $300/night room, the fact that they blamed it on the previous owners was entirely beside the point given that the Inn was sold more than a year ago. After everyone in our building complained about the heat on the first night, the A/C was cranked up so high the next night that everyone in the building was freezing. The front desk's response was that we should open our windows and hope that the exterior temperature and the air conditioning balance each other out. This was not an isolated problem for just the weekend we were there - this is actually how their A/C system works.
On top of the bad A/C system, the bed was not great, the bathroom was rather cheaply done, the room itself was tiny, the tv was only about 12 inches and got 1 static-filled channel, and the pool was closed (and had been for 3 weeks). Our room was not cleaned until after dinner time, and when it finally was cleaned they put our things in very strange places, making it hard to find the things they had picked up. For example, a hair dryer was placed in the far back corner of the bottom drawer in the bathroom, and a hair clip which had been on the floor was placed in an empty shoe bag that was on a chair. Other friends staying with us reported similarly weird housekeeping treasure hunts. At one point we locked ourselves out of our room and when we called the front desk were told, "well you're just going to have to come get a new key from the front desk". When we went to the front desk we were told they could not find a new key and so we walked back to our room with the receptionist who let us back in to our room - not a big deal, but it indicates the level of service you're likely to get and the disorganization of the management.
A couple of redeeming qualities of the inn include the great breakfast served and the helpfulness of (some of) the staff, particularly Nova, who was always willing to help us get anywhere we needed to go.
Overall, I would say that you shouldn't have any trouble finding better quality and service for the same amount of money elsewhere on the island. There is nothing offered here that you won't get anywhere else.
