“Delightful Cape Cod experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Cranberry Inn for 3 nights. Lise was so helpful with the reservations for us, as well as other family members. We were warmly welcomed, had rooms on the second floor (the stairs were a bit steep but that is only to be expected in a home built in the 1830's) and our room was charming. The breakfast varied each day...yummy...and the staff was so cordial and welcoming. It was an easy walk into the quaint town of Chatham, plus a delightful walk to the Chatham Lighthouse and public beaches. Should we travel to the Cape again, we would stay with a "winner", the Cranberry Inn. Sue & Mike Richards, Prairie Village, KS

Room Tip: We went with the plan "vanilla" room; queen bed, no fireplace. However, in the colder mon...

“Comfortable but uncaring”

We stayed at the Cranberry Inn for 3 nights in early October. The inn is well positioned for Chatham's art and gift shops and restaurants. We checked in with Kay, the inn keeper, and were shown to a small, somewhat dingy, room accessed by the steepest set of stairs imaginable. We asked if there were other rooms available and were shown a very pleasant, large ground floor room which, in the circumstances, we accepted and paid the additional $85! From then, we only set eyes on Kay once (she lives off site). The Inn is best described as cold, unwelcoming, uncaring, as typified by a very frosty breakfast hostess, who (without any pleasantries) ticks you off the list on arrival and announces that breakfast will be 'french toast' (day 1). We asked our waitress if we could simply have eggs easy over. Not possible! So we went hungry! Subsequently, we stood our ground, as did other guests, and got our eggs! Other staff members are equally cool and lacked any interest in their guests or knowledge of the location of anything useful to a visitor (e.g. the tourist office!).

“Comfortable and welcoming”

We stayed at the Cranberry for three days after checking out of the Bradford Inn and deciding we weren't ready to leave the Cape. Our room was large and comfortable and the staff was genuinely friendly. Breakfast each day was well planned and always included fresh fruit salad, fresh baked muffins and a special choice of eggs or pancakes. The inn has feeling of steping back in time with the nice large porch and common spaces and has been kept up very nicely.

Room Tip: Ask about the AC unit in the room. Ours was noisy.

“Good Value...Possibilities but not quite exceptional!”

Well located, well appointed B & B within walking distance of the main shopping area, area restaurants and the beach. Rooms were large, well furnished. Bathrooms could use some updating...shower head was quite ordinary, complimentary toiletries were inexpensive, and the bath towels placed strategically out of reach. The fireplace I am sure would be lovely in the cooler months. Breakfast was good with coffee and tea laid out for frequent refills. The afternoon tea was more afternoon snack although the freshly baked shortbread and cookies were delicious.
As Brian J noted the reception staff was quite gruff, not warm or welcoming. Breakfast staff was great, food quite good although I was taken aback by the single offering of a hot meal. Little did I know that you could request variations on it. I think two offerings would be more welcome.

“Sanctuary by the Sea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

We have been coming to the Cranberry Inn off-season for many years. We have always loved the beauty and grace and comfort of the rooms, the friendly and attentive service, the wonderful full breakfast in the loving dining room, and the afternnons of tasty cookies and treats and beverage while we relaxed by the fireplace and listened to music or talked with other guests in the common rooms. Let's not forget the gentle walk to the sea by wonderful captain's homes as The Cranberry Inn is nestled in the heart of the Old Chatham Village yet just minutes from Lighthouse Beach. Or the easy jaunt in the other direction to fabulous dining, from casual to elegant and great shops and a lively Main Street.

Imagine our surprise at finally arriving in the end of summer for the first time and realizing that we have a perfect deck overlooking the marsh and can watch the seals just off the beachline in the early morning and enjoy our cookies and lemonade out in the back yard on comfortable tables and chairs while playing cribbage under the trees.

Magic is always part of The Cranberry Inn....at First Night or on that beckoning early spring weekend or that crisp late fall night with the fireplace blazing in our own room. We have added the delight of summer's magic, outdoor pleasures, sitting on the rockers on the front porch, and a beach of great summer fun. We now know that The Cranberry Inn is an Inn for all seasons.
