“Compared to it's immediate competitor, this is a gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Got fed up with the next nearest hotel in the Westgate shopping center area and had to search for alternatives. I was given a room on the end of the second floor. It was very quiet. The king size bed was perfect for one - I found it to be the least-slept-on part of the bed. So, I have to admit that there was a body-sized divot on the side closest to the bathroom. I didn't check the other side. The bathroom was clean and very pleasant in size and decor. The room had it's own thermostat and heating/cooling controls, which is awesome. I like to keep the fan on during the night for white noise. I had to search the building for the ice machine, guess there was only one on the first floor. I passed the pool and the hot tub area while searching and wished that I had brought a bathing suit. The staff made a particular effort to make sure that I was comfortable - nothing intrusive. I had dinner in the Westgate Shopping area, just across the highway. There a 3-4 choices, including IHOP; seems this area is a little devoid of breakfast places. It was a very welcome end to a hard day of driving from Detroit. This will be my hotel of choice next time (usually twice a year).

Room Tip: Rooms towards the west (or left as you enter the hotel) would be quieter. I think rooms on the uppe...

“Unremarkable, but clean and seemed nicer than the surrounding area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Stayed for 3 nights as a base for a Boston area visit. This was an okay place, but is definitely a lower-tier Country Inns & Suites and I had a few issues there.

First problem was that they did not have the type of room that I reserved, despite the fact that I reserved it at the 21-Day Advance Purchase Offer non-refundable rate (which was a good rate). So instead of the 2 Queen room I reserved, my room turned out to be a one-bedroom suite, which is arguably a better room, but less ideal when staying with a one and four year old that we would prefer to have sleep in the same room as ours. After seeing the room, I asked for the 2 Queen room we reserved, but was told that the only ones left were Smoking rooms. No thanks.

Also, our reservation requested a crib for our room. There was not one in our room when we checked in, but they brought us one as soon as we asked. Not a big deal, but I was left with the feeling that they were not totally organized or prepared.

The room itself was fine. It was clean and seemed to have been updated within the past few years. The bathroom was a little cramped, and the door configuration made it difficult to get in and out while giving the little ones baths. The room had a safe, refrigerator, and microwave. Both rooms in the suite had TVs.

The indoor pool was okay. The water didn’t seem crystal clear, but it didn’t seem dirty either. I spotted a few dead flies around the edge of the pool. The tile around the pool seemed especially slippery when wet, and both of my young kids slipped and fell at least once while walking outside of the pool.

Breakfast was good, but not as good as I’ve had at other hotels of the same chain. Hot foods included a waffle maker and a selection of three items, usually powdered eggs, bacon or sausage, and potatoes. There was also cereal, fruit, yogurt, and a variety of danishes or other breads. Not the best breakfast, but good for feeding your family for free and no excuses for walking away hungry.

The staff was friendly and helped with whatever they could.

The hotel isn’t located near any attractions that we wanted to see, but there were some shops including a Wal Mart a few minutes away. This was convenient, though it was the type of Wal Mart that has shopping carts fitted with electronic wheel locks, so I wondered how great of an area we were in. The drive to downtown Boston was about 25 minutes, without traffic.

Though I wasn’t thrilled with this hotel, if I had to stay in Brockton again I would probably stay at this hotel because there didn’t seem to be many better options. If I were staying in the general Boston area again and didn’t have to be in Brockton, I’d probably try to find another suburb with better options.

“And they call this place a Country Inn...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

It's funny how when scrolling through the reviews of this place that most people either love it, or they hate it...not much in-between. Unfortunately, we have to lean with the "hate it" crowd.

It all started with check-in. We arrived at 5:30pm only to be told, rather matter-of-factly, that our room wasn't ready yet. WHAT??? We made the reservation three months earlier and we arrive at 5:30pm...and it's not ready yet? We were told it would be another half hour (again...REALLY???) so we drove over to the mall down the street. After walking through the grungy mall for a while we headed back and were finally able to check in. But the room was not what we had experienced in other Country Inns elsewhere. Sure, the room was huge. But it had zero furniture, other than the bed, a nightstand and a desk. The fact that there was no sofa in the "suite" (even though there clearly had been one in the past, since there was a massive empty space that went unfilled) gave the room a decidedly empty and sparse feel.

And don't get me started about the breakfast, which was a total joke. The choices were limited and not appetizing. My wife took one bite and promptly spat it out. We typically don't eat "free" hotel breakfasts anyway, but come on. Country Inns are usually much better than this.

Needless to say we do not recommend this place and would never stay there again. It actually has turned my opinion of Country Inns, in general and given the choice, would stay in a different chain in the future.

“A Sound Choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

I stayed here while spending some time in Boston. It was not too far from Boston which was convenient and it was extremely more affordable then staying in greater Boston. The room was nice, clean, and a bit modernized. There were fresh baked cookies available at all times and a decent hotel breakfast was served. Checkout was at noon which was a plus for me. The jacuzzi suite was above average compared to some other jacuzzi suites that I have stayed in....and probably one of the cheapest.

Room Tip: If you book through an advance purchase on their website, you can save a little more off regular pri...
