“Great weekend, incredibly expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

All in all, we had a really fun weekend at Ocean Edge. We happened to get a room upgrade which made the price of the resort a bit more palatable but they still charge an arm and a leg for what you get.

The resort, along with other properties on the Cape, have an issue. It's that they have beach front property for 12 months a year where people can only swim for about 2 months a year. So, they charge accordingly for this prime time on the beach. The pricing issue just seems to be more pronounced at this properties as it is much nicer than most other properties on the Cape and I guess they are able to command the prices they do.

The resort has probably 5 or 6 pools plus a private beach (if you are staying in a room class that allows beach access). The grounds and our room were very well maintained and it was nice to have things like towels, umbrellas and chairs ready for you at the beach so you only have to walk down with your suit to enjoy the beach. The service was good at the property. We didn't have too many run in's with staff as we were in a townhome unit but they were always very helpful when we did talk with them.

Low tide is an interesting phenomenon here. The water seems to go out forever. This makes for a fun time exploring the water but also makes for a small hike to swim when the water is out.

I would return to this property for another short weekend or longer should the rates go down a bit.

“Wonderful Resort with Great Golf and Amenities”

This is a resort that is well worth the money. We went there for a long weekend during the summer and regretted not staying longer!

The rooms are clean and nice, the golf was really enjoyable and the restaurants and rooftop bar were wonderful! I highly recommend it and look forward to returning!

Room Tip: Ask to stay in the main building...beautiful!

“From Wedding Cancellation to Court Summons”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

TA Friends,

My review has less to do with my stay than with the way the resort handled a very delicate personal situation in my life. I was going to have my wedding at OE on the 20th of this past August. Unfortunately for my fiance and I we decided to part ways and end our relationship. Immediately finalizing our relationship we notified the resort on April 24th (four months before our date) and were told we missed the deadline by two days and thus owed them 50% of the estimated cost. Up until that point we had paid two installments of $3,500 totalling $7,000. This was the last we heard from OE until this past Friday when I received a court summons that I was being sued in small claims court for $1,049.

From the last phone call we had with OE on April 24th we have never recieved a follow-up phone call, email, or bill in the mail stating exactly how much we owe as a result...mail could not have been lost since my fiance still lives at our address on record. This period has been a very stress period in our lives since we parted ways after nearly 7-years together and decisions like what to do with our home, finances and so forth encompassed our lives to an extreme degree. I guess we expected a bill but never heard and since we were only 2-days pass the contractualy deadline we thought OE would disregard the amount...to be honest we just thought everything was resolved while we moved on with our seperate lives.

You can imagine my surprise when I got the summons on Friday. Literally, no correspondence from OE prior in anyway since we cancelled the wedding. I pay my bills, AWAYS. But to I have to know how much I am paying and recieve some kind of bill or phone call...especially during this chaotic period of my life. I think it was completely tactful and lack of accountability to sue someone without even sending them an initial bill.

I spoke to their marketing/sales director, though very nice a person but seemed completly lost in the situation. Somewhere along the way OE dropped the ball...is it common business practice to just sue someone without even sending them a bill? After the fact that we gave them four months of noticed and didn't even gripe about them keeping our initial $7,000 deposit...and mostly they filled our date with someone else.

Anyway, I wanted to just move on from this terrible experience and settled on the amount and I paid it yesterday but just wanted to warn anyone looking to book a wedding here to be careful. It seems like they only care about money and have very poor record keeping/tracking. The worse part about this is that I had to spend my weekend going through my files and the memories of planning my failed marriage looking for receipts and correspondence with OE...brought up a lot of painful memories that I'm sure OE does to care about as long as they got their money.

THEY WILL SUE YOU WITHOUT EVEN SENDING YOU A BILL!!

“Lifelong dream destroyed”

I have been spending summers on the Cape since I was born. When I was married last summer, I thought it only natural to stay at Ocean Edge on my wedding night. For the amount of money to stay, it was totally not worth it. My fantasy of what Ocean Edge was came to an end on my wedding night. Average AT BEST! Walls are paper thin! Children running around upstairs woke us up at 6 in the morning. The staff is snobby. They must think they own the resort as opposed to working there. I wrote a complaint to management and didn't even get a response! Bathrooms were nice. Bed wasn't very comfortable. Ruined my wedding night. All in all, stay at a nice bed and breakfast somewhere else. For the price, Ocean Edge is terrible overrated. I have stayed at 4 & 5 star hotels and this certainly doesn't come close to that.

Room Tip: Stay at a bed and breakfast instead

“great experience”

We stayed at the Ocean Edge over Thanksgiving and really enjoyed it. When we checked in we were helped by Tomas Tolentino at the front desk. He upgraded us, and we were very happy with the room -- beautiful view, very clean, and good water pressure in the shower. Tomas also gave us a few restaurant recommendations and was really helpful in general.
