Just got back from a great 3-night trip with my husband, celebrating our 1-year wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived we knew we made a great decision deciding to stay here. Ken, our inn-keeper, was definitely born for this job. One of the most hospitable, kind, and extremely knowledgeable people we've ever met, he made us feel comfortable and at home right away.
He showed us to our room, a third-floor, seemingly attic-type room (but not the dirty, storage attic one would imagine), known as the Garrett Room. Rather, this room was clean, quaint, old-fashioned, and covered wall-to-wall with beautiful old wood, which made us feel like we jumped back in time (in a good way). The bathroom was pretty new looking with that old charm to it, and had double sinks (a luxury for us coming from a small Queens apartment with a tiny sink).
Breakfast each morning was a pleasant surprise of various baked delicacies, prepared fresh by his hired chef. As we ate, we engaged in pleasant conversation with other guests, as well as Ken, about what to do, where to visit, and places to eat during our time on the Cape. Ken was like an endless encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to all things Cape Cod-related. We were very impressed.
The area where the inn is located is right on the main street of 6A, but nestled off the street so you don't feel like you're on a main road. The inn is surrounded by beautiful old beechwood trees (hence the name), and the area directly around the inn boasts tons of restaurants and cute antique shops, and is in a great location central to the cape. Only an hour from Provincetown and no more than 15-30 minutes to other towns. We definitely took advantage of the central location and covered a decent amount of the Cape during our short stay there.
Overall, this was a great place to stay and I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a beautiful, charming and old-fashioned inn with an extremely personal touch. It would have been nice to meet the golden retrievers others mentioned in this review (we didn't see any), but that definitely doesn't change my opinion of this place at all, which is 5-stars, A+!
