“a nice stay except for intrusive tv in public places”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

I'm becoming a fan of Best Westerns from this hotel in Maryland, and one that I stayed in in Tonopah, Nevada. There seems to be a good attention to detail, and in both places the decor matched the place it is located in -- in Maryland nice lace curtains and period style furniture. The breakfast was good enough and the room comfortable. The reason I didn't give it a better grade was that Fox News was intrusively blaring on the tv in the lobby and in the very small breakfast room. I can assure you that this weary traveler found this very disturbing. This is very partisan and divisive, in my view. What ever happened to some good quality muzak?

“Remodel in progress? Here's hoping...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011 via mobile

It seems from reading some of the other reviews they are slowly renovating some of the rooms. I had few issues with my room, as I was in town for a wedding so I had the room to myself & was spending minimal tome there.

I like the mini fridge & microwave in the room since I have food allergies and like to keep some convenience items on hand. The hotel is located directly across the street from two shopping centers that have between them a Walgreens, Safeway, liquor store and several chain and local restaurants. It's even located within a mile of the main part of town which has more resaurants.

Some things I didn't enjoy were the fact that there is no elevator, so I'm happy I was staying for 2 nights (meaning not a lot of luggage) and I lucked out and got the first floor. My room could've also used some more thorough cleaning. There was some mildew in some of the seams in the shower, which attentive housekeeping staff should be able to handle. The hallway always smelled strongly of air freshener, which I didn't enjoy.

That said, the catering staff is GREAT if you use the catering on premises (Jess was our favorite server) and the rooms are adequate for a short stay for an event. The wifi in the hotel is great, and the signal is even strong enough to stream video. The quality of the video isn't great, but you don't get it pausing to buffer a lot.

All in all, a pretty average place that is hopefully getting a face lift soon.

“Older property, but a decent stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Our room was clean but demonstrated some age, such as the electrical outlets being worn out and not holding plugs, and the decor is a bit dated. The breakfast offering has the usual fare; cereal, various breads, oatmeal, etc. Hot food is limited to make-your-own waffles, and a slow cooker full of sausage gravy.
Parking is ample, although the lighting in the main lot was minimal, making night trips to your car daunting. There is a Burger King next door, a Walgreens and a strip mall across the street, and the property is close to quaint downtown Westminster where there are many restaurants to choose from. Last night, we went to Johansson's for dinner, which was just average. I also reviewed of Johansson's on Tripadvisor.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the Best Western, Westminster.

“What a GREAT hotel !!!!! We LOVED it!”

What a great hotel! The staff was so nice and the room was perfect for my family. There was a delightful young lady who checked us in, I think her name was Morgan. She was so pleasant and made my exhausted kids laugh after a long day touring Gettysburg. The room was very spacious, clean and the TV was GREAT. (flatscreen) We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. It's a great location and the price was perfect. We were able to spend the day at Baltimore's Inner Harbor it was only about a half hour away. We will definitely be back! Oh...make sure you have a Belgian Waffle in the morning. The kids LOVED them.

“Were's the Help? Not for my family!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

Terrible service from the young lady at the front desk this past thursday evening. My young children and I needed pool towels but the front desk help was to busy at 7pm watching television with the loud construction workers drinking from Vodka bottles in the lobby. We waited for over ten minutes after we realized the front desk help was actually one of the girls with this party.I did mention this poor service to the mature women at midnight. The night time help was also busy cleaning up the mess from the partying front desk and other hotel guest. May I also mention that the phone was ringing non stop with no one to answer at 7pm. Please have a night time manager on duty!

Room Tip: Stay far from lobby!
