“Very nice ...huge gem in Timonium”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

The place is huge as you walk in....overwhelming....the room is spacious and clean....bathroom could be more modernized with some caulking, but the shower head was pure bliss......amenities very nice.
Carpeting is older in the rooms, but ours was clean and the cleaning staff was shampooing other carpets on the floor.....he told us our room was done 3 days ago.....
Staff is helpful in sharing maps and places to go around the hotel.
I would have like coffee service, but we could only get a cup Sat. morning. Coffee was non existent Sunday morning as we drove off around 9 am.....what??? What restaurant doesn't have coffee at 9 am on a Sunday morning?

When I first entered this hotel over 20 years ago, I was also surprised just how large the Atrium is. It is nice to have such a large and versatile area for guests to enjoy. I was happy to see that our staff was helpful, and you enjoyed our shower heads; they are very popular.
I was sorry to learn that you had trouble getting a cup of coffee. As a fellow caffeine addict, I understand your pain. I know that our restaurant did not run out of coffee, and I am working with our restaurant find out how we could have misinformed you.
Thank You for being our guest!

“Second Visit A Little Better....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

After a long ride on the road, we arrived our at our room, lugged all our stuff up and found the carpet wet. It had been cleaned that day and they still put someone in that room. Back down to the desk to ask for another room. Rooms were cleaner on this visit so that was a plus. Nice to know they clean the carpet. Interesting to see that like vacuuming the edges of the room still weren't clean (what's up with that?). Second room dry carpet (with dusty edges).

Room Tip: Don't get a room overlooking the atrium! Too noisy.

Thanks for staying with us again. Over the past few weeks we have been shampooing all of our carpets. I was surprised to read the carpet in your first room was still damp. I have reviewed your comments with our Housekeeping Managers, and I have been assured there will be no further reoccurrences. Thanks for letting us know!

“Below average - nonexistent customer service.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

My wife and I booked this hotel for a single night stay for a dr appt at johns Hopkins green spring location at the recommendation of the hospital concierge. The hotel was on a list of hotels that offer a discount for medical patients but when we called to book the medical "discount" was higher than the published rate on the web site. We asked reservationburnout the medical discount but they only offered the rack rate.We went ahead and booked the AAA rate.

We made our 7 hour trip to the hotel and arrived at dusk. The hotel front parking lot is very dark and does not feel like a safe place to park. We checked in which was uneventful and went to our room. The room was average size but a little small for 3 adults and seemed clean. We tried to connect to the wireless Internet from multiple devices and we were unable to connect so my wife spent 30 minutes on the phone with tech support and was unable to resolve the issue. We had good signal but could not get a login prompt. I walked down to the end of the hall with my iPad and was able to log on. So we called the front desk and asked to be moved to another room where we could have Internet access and asked if it would be possible to move up to a larger room for the inconvenience of moving. The front desk girl was rude to my wife and said they only have one size room. My wife asked to speak to the night manager and she explained the situation. He put her on hold for a long time and finally came back and said he would move us to room 310 which "he thought" was a suite. We packed up, got the key and moved to 310 which was just a carbon copy of the room we left. As it turns out room 308 right next door was marked as a suite. How can the night manager of the hotel not know (or be able to look up quickly) which rooms are suites in their hotel. There's no excuse for this, it was just lack of care for customer service, and laziness. The wireless worked in the new room so we settled in.

Other complaints:
The televisions are old CRT type SD tvs that look like they came over on the Mayflower. For this grade of hotel I would expect a nice flat screen. The hair dryer only had a low setting and was basically worthless. Housekeeping came by to clean the room at 9am and woke us even though we were checking out that day and checkout is at 12pm. Front desk night clerk was unfriendly and rude when we called.

This hotel could be decent with a few changes and a focus on customer service.

I am very sorry you experienced so many problems during your stay. Today, I went to your original room, and I am able to get online. I cannot explain why it did not work for you earlier. I am glad the internet worked in your second room, and I am happy to report it is currently working.
I want you to know that our policy does not allow for rudeness of any kind on the part of our employees. The individuals that assisted you have been counseled, and now have a very clear understanding of the level of service we require.
It is true that the vast majority of our rooms are the same size. Room 308 that you mentioned is a larger room that groups utilize for conferences. It has comfy leather couches and chairs, but there is no bed in that room. This is why the front desk would not have assigned you to that room.
Once again, I do apologize and hope that you will allow us the opportunity to provide you with an experience more typical of our hotel.

“Comfortable Stay! Close to Union Memorial!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

My wife was having surgery at Union Memorial Hospital on Dec. 23. We wanted a hotel close enough to the hospital but where we wouldn't have to pay the exorbitant parking costs at hotels closer to the hospital in Baltimore. The Crowne Plaza fit the bill. Reasonable cost, free parking and only a 20 minute drive to the hospital. Staff was great by providing a wheel chair for the four days after surgery. Also, free box lunches provided throughout Christmas Day were a lifesaver because there were no local restaurants open--That was a really nice touch and we greatly appreciate the gesture from management. Rooms were average or better. My wife felt rooms could be a tad cleaner and sheets had a few holes. We both felt hotel room could use a little up-dating. Also, I noticed the light railway is within walking distance and for future visits this would be nice to connect to the Inner Harbor. Overall, we would and we plan to stay here again

I’m so glad you enjoyed the Light Rail. It is so easy to get to the Inner Harbor on the Light Rail, and the Timonium Business Park Station is just a 5 minute walk from our front door.
I am sorry to hear about your sheets. I will certainly talk to our housekeeping department because it sounds like those sheets just need to be replaced. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Enjoyed hotel with a great staff who was very accomodating. Lobby is very large and decorated for the holidays being very festive. Room was large being very clean & extremely comfortable with no complaints. Restaurant has a bar. Breakfast was OK. Dinner was very Good.. Service was GREAT! If you are a serious coffee person, there is a coffee shop turning right out of the hotel to the main street. Then turning left over railroad tracks and its on the right hand side. A true must for a serious coffee person. Great hotel for business or family travel. There is a lot of shopping in the area if needed. Shoprite located within a few minutes if needed for items that you forgot.

We have so much fun decorating the hotel for the holidays! You may have noticed the “snow mountain” covered with gingerbread houses in our atrium. Local kids attending our Thanksgiving buffet decorated each one of those gingerbread houses. (I believe more decorations were eaten than were placed on the houses…but that’s part of the fun, right?) Also, there was an 18 foot tall tree in the Atrium. That tree alone was lit with 1,200 lights.

Baltimore Coffee & Tea Co is that great coffee shop. A lot of guest love that place, and you can smell the coffee all the way to our when they roast the beans.

Thanks for staying with us!
