My wife and I had, on numerous occasions, talked about visiting the Eastern Shore of Maryland but until recently never did anything about it. However, my wife's birthday was on the 15th of November and I wanted to surprise her with something special. My daughter reminded me of my interest in St. Michaels, Maryland, so I scouted around and came up with a few possibilities. One of them was Chesapeake Wood Duck Inn, Tilghman Is., Maryland. After having spoken with Kim, one of the owners, about the place I decided to stay there and choose the "cottage" for our overnight stay. Also, I spoke with Jeff, the other owner, and after finding out that Jeff was an experienced professional chef, we spoke about what our dinner menu options would be. They all sounded great but after hearing Jeff describe the Duck, I was thrilled and ordered it.
We arrived on November 13th. The cottage was beautiful and was well appointed. Private bathroom was well equipped and there was a small living room, as well as a private bedroom with a double bed. We were pretty comfortable. The duck dinner was, to say the least, outstanding. Jeff sure knows how to cook up a great meal. For any of you contemplating a stay here, I would strongly recommend you stay here for dinner. You will not be sorry. The meal we were served was marvelous and, considering the cost, very reasonable given the other dinner options on the Island and remember, it is BYO.
We spent the afternoon, on the 13th in St. Michaels, a very quaint town with several antique shops, saloons, ice cream parlors, restaurants, clothing shops, etc. The following day, after having checked out of the Inn we drove to Easton, MD. which had a Waterfowl Festival going on. It was an interesting few hours walking around and seeing all the dogs, wood carvers and their carved waterfowl products, eating good barbeque and then heading home to Pennsylvania.
After our experience, I know it won't be the last time!
