“Delightful. Would like to bring my 90-year-old Mom.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2011

The Wood Duck Inn is just what you want in a waterside B&B: Quaint, clean, filled with the fragrance of tempting baked goods. We spent a great deal of time enjoying the breeze on the screened porch. Our only regret was that we couldn't staythrough the weekend and enjoy the gourmet dinner. Judging from the breakfasts, it must be terrific. Just one caveat: I can't take Mom because it seems all the rooms are upstairs, and she can't do stairs. Otherwise, the Wood Duck is great.

“Pleasant, comfortable stay at the Wood Duck Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2011

We've been to Maryland's Eastern Shore many times and just took friends of ours from New York there for a short weekend. Though I enjoy visiting St. Michael's, I prefer staying on Tilghman Island for the peace and quiet. This was our first stay at the Wood Duck Inn. It's an old house, nicely restored and in very good condition. The rooms are a bit small but very comfortable and clean. The hosts are very helpful, friendly and prepare a large, delicious breakfast every day taking advantage of local foods and local specialties. The inn has a large back yard which leads to Dogwood Harbor. There's a gazebo, Adirondack chairs, a deck with seating and a screened in porch. All provide pleasant space for chatting with friends or spending quiet time alone. I'd definitely go again!

“A GREAT CHOICE!”

My wife and I had, on numerous occasions, talked about visiting the Eastern Shore of Maryland but until recently never did anything about it. However, my wife's birthday was on the 15th of November and I wanted to surprise her with something special. My daughter reminded me of my interest in St. Michaels, Maryland, so I scouted around and came up with a few possibilities. One of them was Chesapeake Wood Duck Inn, Tilghman Is., Maryland. After having spoken with Kim, one of the owners, about the place I decided to stay there and choose the "cottage" for our overnight stay. Also, I spoke with Jeff, the other owner, and after finding out that Jeff was an experienced professional chef, we spoke about what our dinner menu options would be. They all sounded great but after hearing Jeff describe the Duck, I was thrilled and ordered it.

We arrived on November 13th. The cottage was beautiful and was well appointed. Private bathroom was well equipped and there was a small living room, as well as a private bedroom with a double bed. We were pretty comfortable. The duck dinner was, to say the least, outstanding. Jeff sure knows how to cook up a great meal. For any of you contemplating a stay here, I would strongly recommend you stay here for dinner. You will not be sorry. The meal we were served was marvelous and, considering the cost, very reasonable given the other dinner options on the Island and remember, it is BYO.

We spent the afternoon, on the 13th in St. Michaels, a very quaint town with several antique shops, saloons, ice cream parlors, restaurants, clothing shops, etc. The following day, after having checked out of the Inn we drove to Easton, MD. which had a Waterfowl Festival going on. It was an interesting few hours walking around and seeing all the dogs, wood carvers and their carved waterfowl products, eating good barbeque and then heading home to Pennsylvania.

After our experience, I know it won't be the last time!

“Everything we had hoped for...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

My partner and I had booked this vacation several months ago, and from first email with Kim, we knew we were going to love the Inn. I will admit, as the trip got closer we had hesitations of staying on Tilghman Island, fearing that we would miss not being in the heart of St. Michaels. WE WERE OH SO WRONG!!! Thank goodness we didn't change our mind. Just a mere, 12 minutes or so past the touristy hub of St. Michaels, is the serene Island. We were welcomed by Jeff when we arrived, and from the moment we walked into the beautiful Inn, we were elated. Jeff couldn't have been any more welcoming. He showed us around and led us to our beautiful and spotlessly clean room. I recommend "The Dogwood" highly. Spacious and beautiful water views. Over the week of our stay, Kim and Jeff went out of their way to make us feel at home. Wi Fi access, XM Sirius music playing throughout the day, deliciously sinful breakfasts every morning, evenings on the porch with a nice glass of wine (stock up and bring your own, there is a fridge for guests)...great dinner RIGHT ON TILGHMAN at Bay Hundred (no need to even venture into St. Michaels, but if you do, so very close!!) Hung out at Long Wharf when we wanted a beachy like afternoon, and did I mention the FANTASTIC BREAKFASTS??!! We will definitely come back again...and recommend to all of our friends who are looking for a lovely low key, relaxing get away. Kim and Jeff have outdone themselves in making the Inn cozy, comfortable, CLEAN and friendly.

“Great Experience at the Wood Duck Inn”

My husband and I stayed at the Wood Duck Inn and we fell in love with the Inn the minute we walked through the door. We were greeted by our hostess who gave us a tour of the Inn and took us to our suite. Our suite was exceptionally clean and rather large compared to other Inns we have stayed in. We had a lovely view of the water and we would recommend the Wood Duck Inn to our friends and family. The food was outstanding along with the service!! We made friends with other guests and we felt like family by the time we left....

We are definitely booking a weekend this Summer!!!
