There were several of us here for a conference, so I have several data points, and none are good. If there conference weren't here, we would have moved hotels.
My main complaint is the cleaning staff - the rooms are dirty. There are mysterious smears of things in my bathroom (one large white creamy one on the handle of the sink which I had the pleasure of touching), there were eyelashes (!) between what would have been clean/new sheets, my coffee maker has dried coffee in the bottom of the pot, and there was hair in the shower. I didn't go looking for any of this except the coffee maker - it was all obvious just from being in the room.
3 of us were awoken by alarm clocks set at 6am. This might be hotel policy to set them like this, and it's a TERRIBLE idea. Unplugging them doesn't work and you can't remove the batteries, so you will be stuck at 6am trying to figure out how to work the clock which will kill any chance of going back to bed, even if the.
The walls are thin so you will not be able to get back to sleep, but you will know exactly when your neighbors wake, shower, watch tv, etc.
The room service person and front desk staff are friendly and helpful. They are the reason this review has any stars.
There is free wireless, but the security certificate isn't valid, which, if you're traveling with a business laptop, may prevent you from using it.
When I arrived by taxi, two bellman watched us arrive, then watched us (an elderly driver and a heavily limping passenger) struggle with my (light, roll-aboard) suitcase. When we had the suitcase safely out 5 minutes later, one of the bellhops came over (he at least had the manners to look embarrassed). The taxi driver actually said, "I guess they don't have bellhops here any more".

Dear yaleharvard,
Thanks for the review. I truly believe that listening and responding to guest feedback is the BEST way we can improve, so thank you for the invaluable information. On behalf of the entire team here at Crowne Plaza, allow me to apologize for the ways we failed to meet your expectations. We are better than this! Rest assured, upon reading your review, I immediately shared your comments with my Executive Housekeeper and Front Office Manager. A clean and ready guest room is our goal; fast, friendly attentive service is our mission.
Just a few points of clarification regarding the wireless interent and alarms: we do not set the guest room radio alarms and we should be clearing them of any previous guest preferences before checking in the next guest. Part of Crowne Plaza's mission statement is "a better night sleep for meeting attendees", so we always make every effort to ensure restful slumber, hence the complimentary sleep kit in every room with lavender spray, sleep mask and ear plugs. I will most certainly be addressing this alarm clock oversight with my Houskeeping team. Also, we pride ourselves on offering complimentary high speed wireless internet access throughout the entire hotel. I will be sure to follow up with our internet provider to update the security certificate. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Lastly, I am dissapointed to read about your experience with our bellman. They are there to provide assistance in any way, from directions to luggage assistance, valet to calling a cab. Again, another important point that requires my follow up.
I hope you can tell how seriously I take your feedback. We will do our part to ensure that no other guest has a similar experience. Crowne Plaza is the "the place to meet" and we will continue to work hard providing excellent accomodations for all our guests and meeting attendees. Thanks and Happy Holidays.
