“Happy with our stay”

I stayed here with family while my daughter was competing at Odyssey of the Mind World Finals. It wasn't too far from the campus at College Park, and it was so nice to have a kitchen to actually 'eat in' after a week of traveling. The staff was friendly, rooms were comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was always well stocked. I did laundry in the laundry room, again, nice after a week of traveling. There is a computer room if you need access to a PC. Target, a grocery store and some restaurants are right across the street. I felt the weekend rate was fair, and I would certainly stay here again.

“Clean, comfortable and good value except if you have a pet...”

Overnighted for 1 night with my wife on our way south. Rooms were clean, and comfortable. Hotel is 6 years old and has started renovating some rooms. Great value for money.

Only 2 negatives:
1. Any hotel who says they are pet friendly and then charges you $100 is NOT Pet friendly.
2. No wifi in the rooms. You need to sit in the lobby...

“Convenient for travel but that's all.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

We typically stay at residence inns for overnights while traveling so I've become familiar with the facilities and they vary greatly. This RI needs a REFURB 2 years ago! The employees were terrific, very nice but that's the best I can say about this place. We felt like we were sleeping in a trench all night, the mattress was that old/worn. I tugged all night on the mattress pad to keep it in place, annoying especially because I didn't sleep either! Every RI I've stayed in has a gas grill, I assumed this one did too...wrong. They have a charcoal grill and YOU have to supply the charcoal by getting back in your car and going across the street to buy it...at least they should have a bag on hand to sell to their guests, I'd pay a couple $ more for the convenience. We stayed in Harrisonburg, Va. a week earlier and they have a viking gas grill for use! No WiFi in the rooms, have to go to the lobby....Ok, so I grabbed my I pad and asked if they would turn on the fireplace while I sat there, they were prompt and tried but oops, after calling the engineer, there were parts that needed to be ordered and put in place. Knives in kitchen were dull and dangerous, the cutting board was the size of a postage stamp. If RI's were graded this would get a D and only because of the employees. The breakfast was good though.

“Perfect location for visiting Riderwood Village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

We've stayed here several times while visiting relatives living in Riderwood Village. For this, the location is as good as you can get (It's a really short drive to Riderwood from here, and you could walk there if desired). There is shopping across the street with a Target, grocery store, Starbucks and fast food outlets.

If you are visiting D.C., you may wish to find a location closer to where you will be spending your time, or closer to the Metro. Traffic can be nasty around D.C.

It's a typical Residence Inn, clean, good room sizes (we always get a room with a separate bedroom since we have kids), kitchen area with microwave, refrigerator and cookware. Small exercise room, and laundry area (which can get busy). Beds are comfortable, but average for the price class.

Free breakfast is good, but can get busy and overwhelm the seating sometimes.

“Nice hotel, bit of a hike from DC”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

We booked this hotel through an online bid not knowing the exact location. For us it was too far from the metro and it took more effort to get into D.C. than we would have liked. If I was going for tourism to D.C. I would not stay here again. For business this might be the quiet retreat you need after a busy day in the city.
The hotel itself is nice. I liked the layout with the walk-through vanity and closet into the bathroom. The beds were comfortable although the pillows were a bit worn out. Started the evening with one fluffy pillow and ended with three very flat ones not being enough.
There are plenty of fast food options very close to this hotel and the location is quiet enough. Although you can hear every bump in the night made by other rooms. I think the person in the room above us kicked off their shoes and pulled out a chair but it sounded as if they were coming through the ceiling.
All in all I was pleased with the hotel for the price I paid but would not return.
