“Hotel ok, no breakfast”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Don't stay here if you are counting on the typical Comfort Inn breakfast as part of your stay. I usually love Comfort Inns, and am not normally a complainer. But this time, I went way out of my way, past other hotel chains, to get to Comfort Inn. I was tired, cold and wet from a driving rain, had a big day the next day, and really had a quick, tasty breakfast foremost on my mind. When I checked in, the dining area looked great. The woman behind the counter was very friendly. I thought I was good to go. I set my alarm and crashed.

At 6:45 a.m. I found a dark, deserted breakfast area that had not been prepared at all, and no one seemed to be working in that direction. The coffee was actually cold - it had to have been there overnight. I couldn't find a single thing I would actually eat. I was on a schedule, so I left and found a Starbucks down the street that served up their coffee piping hot.

I sent a complaint to Comfort Inn, and they responded quickly. They added some points to my account, which was very nice, and appreciated. But what I didn't particularly appreciate was the grudging and non-apologetic tone of the customer service rep. She read my complaint back to me over the phone, and listened as I filled in some details, and mostly began to make excuses as to why things might have been the way they were. If she actually apologized at some point, I don't recall. It was lost in the overall tone of the conversation, which was annoyance on her part.

I felt she was trivializing my concerns - it's only breakfast, someone may have called in sick, etc. I realize all these things. I also work in the hospitality industry and I know how quickly things can slip with staffing, etc. She then tried to tell me they might not have had waffle batter because they're not one of the Comfort Inns set up for that, when there was a waffle iron and batter dispenser right there... she seemed to doubt my description of the place, which was annoying. She said they are in the process of changing their menu over, and maybe this hotel hadn't made the switch yet. Urghhh! How does that explain having all the gear for a full-scale Comfort Inn breakfast with no one preparing it??? So frustrating.

When I tried to fill in some more detail for her, she cut me off and said, "I understand that. That's why I'm offering you the extra points." She was clearly done receiving feedback, and done pretending to care. She'd given me my points and now she wanted me to go away. I think she perceives her job as giving out those points, and not as collecting feedback to improve their service. Maybe I misread her, but that's how it felt to me. This was worse than the breakfast debacle.

I realize breakfast is not the most important thing in the world. I survived. But when a company builds their brand around their breakfast, you'd think they would take that service seriously. I didn't complain to get points (though I will take them). I complained because as a loyal Comfort Inn customer, I actually care about heir brand. I want to be able to depend on them when I go to a new town. Customer service did not restore my confidence in that respect.

My room was fine, and I got some friendly service. But the breakfast and the lackluster customer service experience combined dropped me down to 2 points. So sorry, nice lady who checked me in. :(

“Comfort Inn should be ashamed to have there name on this hotel”

Lets start by this place needs a total work over, not just the rooms but the whole building. We just stayed there 2/3 and 2/4 and had 4 rooms booked, everyone in our party felt the same way. Our non smoking room had burn holes right on the comforter, the love seat had several hole and strings coming off of it. You can see that when they have problems they just butcher the room back together. I don't write reviews like this, I use to own the Jackson House Bed and Breakfast and made sure my rooms were top notch just because I only wanted great reviews. Comfort Inn needs to shut this down and do a total overhaul. We will never stay here again!

Room Tip: Go to another hotel in the area, unless they do an overhaul

“Don't go at busy times”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

We booked this place recently because everyplace else had no vacancy. We did book a non-smoking room, but on arrival were given one which seemed to have hosted a cigar smokers convention. After complaining, I was given a set of keys to investigate several rooms (all smoking) to see which was least objectionable. We picked one, only to discover that the A/C was wonky, at best. Very noisy, what appeared to be a 5 degree range on the thermostat - but we stayed since all the other rooms were so heavy with smoke odors. In fact, the hallways were also fairly smoky.

We'd intended to stay until Monday, but checked out early (on Sunday) so we could get home and let our allergies subside.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, but I really can't recommend this place until it's thoroughly cleaned.

“Nice Hotel at a very good location !!!!A true review of this hotel from a person who stays here 104 nights a year”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

I am a business associate who stay at this hotel 104 times a year ( there is no typographical error here. I stay two days a week for the whole year ). I have to completely disagree with all the recent bad reviews that have been left for this hotel. I would start with the front desk people. I see same smiling people every time I check in there and there customer service is simply outstanding. Check-in is very fast and in no time I am in my room. Breakfast is ample and has wide variety of waffles, cereals, muffins, pastries, bagels, bread etc. I was told they will soon start offering hot breakfast with sausage gravy, biscuits, patties etc. and I find it more then enough for someone like me to have breakfast. Coffee is always hot and available even at 11 PM and if it is not hot, they are always willing to make another pot of fresh coffee. Hallways and corridors are always clean and do not smell. I would like to mention that couple of times when it rained heavily, a little water did come through the window seal but maintenance guy was quick to fix that problem. I have stayed in almost all the rooms of this hotel and will say that I never had any issues with any kind of insects or bad bugs and would strongly disagree with those reviewers who complained of bad bugs. Wi-fi is great and better then some higher end hotels nearby. I am saying this because without good Wi-Fi signal, I would not be able to finish my paperwork on time and had to stop staying at a neighboring higher end hotel simply because they have crap wireless internet. Another plus is that all the rooms have fridge/microwave so it is very convenient for me to keep my drinks cold and I can also keep some microwavable food in the fridge to warm up and eat which saves me money. There are so many restaurants within walking distance and I always take turns in either going to IHOP or Outback Steak house or mexican restaurant or Applebee's which is right there in the parking lot. I felt the need to put this review for general public who rely solely on the reviews placed by other people. Do not judge this hotel by few negative reviews placed by people who may have isolated bad experience. I would not stay here one more night if there were bad bugs or if their breakfast was not good or if there wireless internet was crap or if front desk people were rude. Their manager is really a cool guy and has accommodated me even when I had no reservation and when they were charging $179 a night they still offered me the same corporate rate. I highly recommend this place to anyone who want to stay at a nice hotel with pleasant staff and best location in town.

Room Tip: If you are a non smoker, ask them to place you in A building which is strictly non-smoking building...
