“Dark Dank Room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

We usually stay at Best Westerns but this one was disappointing. The staff was very nice but we had a room that smelled musty. The reason I know there were dead bugs on the air conditioner is because the A/C was so noisy I tried turning it off-but then the room got too dank. Luckily, I travel with earplugs for just such contingencies. However my husband got very little sleep. The next night we stayed at the Easton Day's Inn and it was clean, bright and cheery, and quiet.
If you have to stay here ask for an upper level room. Perhaps it will be better. It's been very rainy so the lower level rooms are probably affected. We were way too tired to ask for another room, but shouldn't they all be in good condition?

“Clean and Comfortable, Best Value in the Area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

This facility was clean and comfortable. No bugs of any kind. We reserved a Queen bed but were upgraded to a King. It had two pools that were open with very clean, clear water. It is not mentioned as an amenity, but the room did include a small refrigerator. The only thing it didn't have was a microwave. The continental breakfast included both hot & cold cereal, bagels, danish, fruit, fruit juices, waffles, coffee & tea. It is set up in a separate area with tables and chairs for comfortable eating. We drove down to Tilghman's Island and went on the Skipjack (a sailing ship used for oyster harvesting). It was very reasonably priced. The Captain was very friendly and informative, and was happy to take us out even though my husband and I were the only two on the ship. We also did the Patriot cruise which was reasonably priced and informative. The Winery and wine tasting was great..bottles reasonably priced. Shops were fun to look in, but items were extremely over priced. The Christmas shop had some unique ornaments that were good values. We ate at Marco's and Ava's. Both were priced reasonably for the area and the food was excellent. Initially, we had planned to stay in St. Michael's for 4 days, but only stayed for 2 due to the weather. We found that two days was enough for us to do and see most of the sights..if we go again we would probably go during the summer as quite a few of the shops/eateries were only open on the weekends after Labor Day. Overall a perfect romantic getaway, especially for mature couples.

Room Tip: All rooms are at floor level..access to pools and breakfast is convenient.

“Good Motel in St. Michaels”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

We were travelling with grandchildren; this motel has two pools, which was a godsend. Rooms are clean. The facility is located a little way beyond the town - couples might want to consider one of the B&Bs in town - but overall the Best Western is a good motel for good value.

“Great value for the area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

The Best Western is the only chain hotel in the St. Michael's area. I wasn't sure what to expect when we got there, but I was very pleasantly surprised! The room was always clean, when we called the front desk for something it arrived in minutes, and the air conditioner was the most powerful thing I've ever seen (or felt)!

The hotel offers a continental breakfast in the morning at the coffee shop in the back next to the second pool (there's another pool in the front of the building). I expected coffee, juice, and maybe something small like muffins, but was very surprised to see waffles, juices, coffee, danishes, cereal, fruit, and yogurt.

The price was the best in the area and it was definitely worth it. I will return again in the future.

“Only chain motel in St. Michaels so you don't have much choice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

We spent one night at the hotel for no particular reason other than to get away for a short vacation. Other one or more harbor front establishments which I think call themselves 'resorts' and charge hundreds a night and several B&B's, the only 'normal' motel in town is the Best Western. Consequently they charge close to a $100 a night for which you get a well maintained but nevertheless 1950'e era motel, mostly one story with parking at the front door. There is little to the hotel other than two standard swimming pools. The free breakfast rates about a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10 The hotel website does give the impression that is is located near (I think they say 1 mile) the small St. Michaels downtown area with its antique stores, clothing shops, a few restaurants and a museum. In fact the hotel is on the highway leading to town and it maybe one mile to the sign announcing your arrival in town but the downtown area is further away. In short, unless you like walking along the highway, you are not going to be able to walk to anything. There is a large new restaurant next to the hotel but it is already out of business and up for sale. Probably because it was Sunday, another nearby restaurant also appeared to be closed. So you will need to get in the and drive somewhere if you wish to eat, either something in a strip mall or at one of the fish restaurants in town about which I know nothing.
