The EconLodge in Princess Anne, MD is by far the worst place you can stay. Spend a few more dollars and stay somewhere else. I was in room 103 with my daughter-in-law and 2 graddaughters, ages 1 and 2. When we initially walked in the room it smelled of old wet socks. I had to leave the door open and place an air freshener thingy that you use in your car in the air conditioner to try and get rid of the smell. The rugs are very old and no amount of vacuuming will clean them. They need replacing. The filth has seeped down into the carpet pads. If you walk on the floor in your barefeet you will feel the stickiness and dampness. The bathroom toilet was not securely adhered to the floor, it moved around when you sat on it. The tub had large cracks in it and it was very dirty. The seats that were in the room were very old and just as dirty as the carpets. The refrigerator freezer was in need of defrosting. I was not able to put anything in the freezer. The iron did not heat up. And the water from the faucet, toilet and tub was yellow. When I asked the Manager about the water color, he said that is the color of the water there. Really? You may be asking why I didn't leave, well it is because I had travelled 7 hours with small kids and was too exhausted to do anything but sleep. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and the sheets were clean, so I did get to sleep peacefully. Or so I thought. The next morning I found 3 red bumps on my side and back. It turned out that there were spiders in the room and I was bitten by them as I slept. They bites became very red, swollen with burning pain. The drive back to NC was filled with excrutiating pain. I have contacted my physician since I have been home to schedule an emergency appointment today for medication and an assessment. The pictures that they are showing on their website is not of the pool, or of the rooms. This is really a crappy place. They are providing the minimal in service, but the thing that gets me the most upset is that the place has no hygienic quality. I wish that hotels got rated for cleanliness like restaurants do. If so, this place would be shut down. Also, the TV in the lounge is always on an Indian channel. This is America! When I have my coffee in the morning I would like to see American news, not Bollywood. I will pay extra and stay in a hotel that is clean and accommodating. People who frequent this place obviously have not been exposed to things of class.
