“No problems!”

I don't understand the negative reviews this place got. It's not the Waldorf Astoria. And that's why it's $90 bucks a night. I guess everyone has their gripes.I stayed here on Nov 5th. Check in was less than a minute, as they already had my room keys and paperwork ready to go. The room was clean. Bed linens and pillows were clean. The bathroom was spotless. I'm a bit of a germaphobe, and I'm always looking for stains, etc on towels and sheets when I stay at a hotel. Thankfully, none were found. Overall, a great hotel experience.

I would highly recommend this HIE.

power went out during hurricane Irene and couldn't bare to stay another night in the house. I booked this room late night Aug 28th online and when I checked in there was a slight mix up with the employee that was working the night shift (older man) but he was polite and got me checked in to suite 100. The first night was fine, the room had a large flat screen tv, nice chair with ottoman, king size bed and a jacuzzi tub in the room along with the bathroom.I was so happy about the discount given for the room that I overlooked the coffee stains on the walls and the closet door. The next day I happened to look at the counter where the microwave, coffee maker and mini-fridge was and noticed these very small "ant-like" bugs crawling around...and not just a couple....A LOT. I went and spoke with the young man at the desk (Lionel was his name I think) he was very apologetic and I told him I understood if the hotel was booked and I couldn't be moved that night but would like to be moved the next day because by this time I had also discovered a DEAD roach in the bathroom that had been there. He again apologized and offered me bug spray and said he would leave a message for the manager who should contact me the next day. I never received a call so I called @ around 1pm worried that the hotel would be booked and a very rude lady named KAREN answered who was all but helpful and told me she wasn't agreeing to change my room and would have the general mgr call right back...I waited another hour and no call so I called back...had another rude convo with the same young lady and then receive a call from the mgr DANIELLA..she proceeds to tell me that they don't have bugs or roaches and she can't changed my room but she would send a maintanence man down to look @ the rm. The manager was worse than the rude chick I initially spoke to. He walks in the room to the WINDOW not to where the issue was turns around and walks out...doesn't speak or anything. @ the same time housekeeping comes in, changes the sheets, takes a bag of trash...then leaves. no vaccuum no cleaning the bathroom...none of that. I contacted Guest relations and lonngggg story short instead of staying the full last night I was there I chose to check-out. There was no "customer is right" Daniella blamed the bugs on ME and I was basically arguing with this woman the whole time. I had NEVER had service like this EVER. Don't get me wrong everyone else I had to deal with (aside from Karen and the one who was supposed to be in charge and taking responsibility for the issue @ the hotel) was very polite (the 2 men working the evening and night shift) and Guest Relations was very helpful and very serious about fixing the issue. The breakfast was surprisingly good. There was hot food and seemed very fresh. If they would've just changed my room, put me somewhere else and actually CLEANED the room..I wouldn't have gone so far as to contact someone OVER the mgr @ the property.

Room Tip: Don't let them put you in Rm 100 & avoid having to interact w/karen/daniella

Dear Devon M,
Thank you for your comments regarding your stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Prince Frederick, Maryland. I am concerned about your experience with “ant-like” bugs in your room. We are along the coast of the Chesapeake Bay where we had just experienced one of the worst hurricanes ever. When candy and food is left lying around in a first floor end-unit after a hurricane there is that risk of having some problem with ants. We made every effort at our disposal to fix the situation by sending the maintenance department and our exterminator to the room to spray for bugs and we offered to clean out the room as well. We could not accommodate the room move because all of our rooms were full with other local families who were affected by the hurricane.
I sincerely apologize for this uncomfortable inconvenience and hope that you will consider our hotel in the future when we have not just had a natural disaster.
Sincerely,
Daniela Beckham

“Nice hotel close to alot of restaurants and stores”

I went to a wedding in Prince Frederick and stayed for two nights at this hotel. One staff member, a younger black gentlemen, was really knowledgable and checked in my friends, expediting everything and giving them their gift bag. I, unfortunately, got a slower (maybe newer) employee which is fine, however, she seemed very disinterested in her job and in acting hospitable towards me. She was basically going through thte motions. I had to go back and get my gift bag later which was fine. Room was spacous and even though my room faced the road, it was quiet, had a refridgerator, coffee maker, iron, hair dryer, and microwave as well as a flat screen. Room also had a nice desk and a really nice leather chair with ottoman which I loved. The bathroom was also pretty standard and nice. Bedding was fresh and nice and room had a nice fragrance to it. One thing I didn't like was the towels, they seemed kind of grungy with for me is kind of gross. Breakfast was offered for a long period of time and was good. I tried to logon to the computer to print my boarding pass and I could not logon. When I asked that one employee what the password was, she gave it to me and after several tries it still was not working. I informed her of this and she said, "oh well, I don't know then". I gave up and just checked in at the airport. I was irritated at that service because it was a holiday weekend and having your boarding pass printed saves alot of time at the airport. Overall it was an average stay. If the customer service and towels were better, I would have been more complimentary of my stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the front of the hotel bc it is on a main road.

“Avoid at all costs”

This review is for the road warrior looking for a decent, quiet night in a chain hotel. I know that statement is actually an oxymoron anymore. Most frequent travelers will not appreciate the amenities of this hotel, because there are none. This sad edition of the HIE chain will not see any awards anytime soon, and likely will be sold someday to another franchisee from yet another "economy" chain brand. This hotel had to be constructed from recycled cardboard boxes. My second mistake (first one was booking here) upon checking in was letting the front desk person talk me out of a top floor room because that is the smoking floor. I was informed that though there are non-smoking rooms on that floor, smelling the smoke of the addicted class is endemic to that floor no matter where you are located. I accepted a second floor room and sure enough, got a constantly running kid and an insomniac adult working my cardboard ceiling for all but about 3.5 hours of the entire night. You could actually hear the bed springs squeaking every time my "considerate" fellow guests got up and down from the bed. That was a first for me in any national brand hotel. Whatev. I am aware that the Holiday Inn brand has recently gone through a major coroporate re-branding and renovation effort nationwide. The best thing they could do for this one is ONLY allow smokers to stay here.

Room Tip: Book at the Springhill Suites across the street instead

“Great hotel, comfortable and quiet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2011

This hotel was very comfortable, they only had a King room available, but were able to accommodate the three of us with a roll away bed. The complementary breakfast had variety, and was well stocked during the entire morning. There was also a great restaurant across the street, Jaspers.
