“Pics do no justice...great trip”

This was not only my first visit to OC and staying so close to the beach but my first stay at this hotel. I wasn't to excited about it after looking at the pics on-line but after checking in we were very pleased. The location was great, you are located right on a great strip where there are several restaurants, shops, bars, and everything you need. You are also a short walk across the street from the beach which is perfect for parking. The parking lot was a negative it was very small on the side and we often had to park on the street which was annoying since all the signs say no parking. The grounds were clean and bright however again if entering from the side trying to get your luggage cart up the ramp is a nightmare. The corners are to small and it took 2 staff members and myself to get it up the ramp. The lobby is nice and big its loaded with attraction info which is great. The staff was pleasant and friendly also very helpful. After checking in they gave all the children a free shovel and pale set which they absolutely loved. The room was great, clean and the bed was comfortably. We had a balcony which we enjoyed and the bathroom and mini kitchen area was clean and nice. The restaurant at the hotel proved to be our favorite. great prices and good food. The kids loved the pool and out side area all though i wish there were more area with shade or umbrellas while sitting down but overall it was ok. Me and my family were very pleased and will deff stay again.

“Nice low priced Hotel”

Were there for one night in early October. On the 4th floor with a small balcony overlooking a side parking lot and the main drag. We were about 1 block to the ocean so it's convenient, but not expensive.

The room was clean, quiet and on the whole very nice.

The staff was very professional and helpful.

Overall this hotel is a good value.

“Great off season bargain”

I imagine this place is a good deal anytime but it seemed especially so in early October. I went for the cheapest room available which meant the lowest floor in the building furthest from the ocean beach on the side away from the bay. But even this room had a little balcony from which the ocean could be glimpsed between other buildings and the beach was a short walk away. The room itself was nicely equipped, clean, and comfortable.

“Nicely-priced room but that's about it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

My family stayed for two nights at the Sea Bay Hotel. The room was well priced and if no issues had come up, I imagine we would have left there thinking it was a nice place. However, issues did come up and they were addressed poorl\y.

First, we booked through Travelocity, which said the hotel stay included a breakfast. When we walked over to the cafe for the breakfast, we were told by the front desk that Travelocity was wrong and that only people who book through the hotel's own website get the breakfast. I imagine the front desk is used to this unresolved ongoing issue, but we are not. We were treated as if we were stupid to even ask about getting free breakfast without paying for a room via the hotel's web site. I suggest the Sea Bay get this issue sorted out with Travelocity because it leads to misunderstandings.

Second, the walls on our floor were paper thin. This was more of a problem for the people next to us, who I felt badly for, because we had a sick baby that would occasionally scream early in the morning. Since I could hear word for word conversations in the next room over, lord help those people who had to put up with crying at 6am.

Third, I clogged the toilet. It happens - I did my best to resolve the issue myself, but without a plunger, it wasn't gonna happen. I called the front desk on Saturday afternoon to get it addressed, and by Sunday at checkout, no one had come. I used the elevator to go down and tell them about it on Sunday, but the elevator door got stuck on the ground floor and would only open enough for me to get an arm out. So I went back up to my floor (luckily the doors opened on other floors) and we simply told them at checkout, where they didn't seem at all interested or apologetic that no one came.

On the plus side, the hotel is right across the street from a nice section of beach, we had a room in the back building that was overlooking the bay and my son got to watch a bunch of ducks feed and fight with each other, and the people staying there all seemed very nice. The pools looked like they were in good shape too but we didn't go in. A mixed bag.

“Yet another good expierence at the Sea Bay Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

I have stayed at the Sea Bay Inn for more years than I can remember. Over that time this hotel has offered comfort at a reasonable price every time. A few years ago new ownership took over and IMO nothing but positive changes have followed.

Again over the weekend of Winefest I was met by a friendly, professional staff at every turn. My room was clean, quiet, offered free internet, and mini-fridge. The mid-town location is excellent for getting to many places to either eat or have a few drinks at night. Fager's Island, Hall's, Dough Roller, BJ's and several other places are within easy walking distance.
The Sea Bay also offers breakfast and lunch food service located right on the property in their own cafe. I had breakfast there Sunday morning and the food was well prepared, the staff was helpful and friendly and the prices certainly in line with your other OC options.

All in all the management of this property is doing a fine job both maintaining and improving the property. I would hope they would contniue in this direction for years to come. It has always been a welcome pleasure arriving in OC and checking in at the Sea Bay Inn. Like returning back to stay with friends.
