“Great deal for winter getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

This is the second year that we have stayed at this hotel. We usually visit February/March weather depending. It is a great location with onsite restaurants as well as indoor pool. Had an oceanview suite which included a living room, separate kitchen, bath with jacuzzi tub and 2 queen beds plus balcony for $99. The staff are friendly, restaurant food is good and the hotel is clean. This is our hotel of choice off season and will remain that way as long as prices stay affordable.

Room Tip: Oceanview suite is the best. Spacious and direct view of ocean/beach. Southside suite is alittle s...

Had a great time as always here. It's nice to relax by the pool and let the children enjoy themselves. I will hate to be heading home.

“Great Hotel for Winter Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

My family has been coming to this hotel in January for over 10 years. It is a great hotel in a location that has just enough to offer off-season. Kids love indoor pool, rooms are spacious and reasonable ($79-$99) in Jan. Plenty of restaurants open (Bayside Skillet is a must!). Staff is always friendly, restaurant and bar are OK, but reasonable and convenient if you don't want to drive. Love this place and will return every year...

Room Tip: Don't stay above a smoking floor or you will get rising smoke, ask at check-in

“Met my expectations and more....”

Stayed here on the weekend of January 6th. I have stayed at the other Holiday Inn on 126th street and the Marriott Beachfront on 15th. The advance, non-refundable rate I found was too good to pass up, so I gave it a try for the first time. This was a good weekend to visit, as the hotel was no where near capacity. Friendly check-in by young, female desk clerk, and I asked for an upgrade for an oceanfront King Bed, which they were unable to do, but instead gave me an Oceanfront two-queen (Room 1413-top floor). Room was very clean and there were no issues, although it took me a couple of minutes to realize that the shower head is recessed into the ceiling in this room, and you stand in the middle of the jacuzzi tub. Pressure was low, but probably had to do with being on the top floor. Had happy hour at hotel bar which offered some very competitive specials for beer and food. Nachos were very tasty. Overall, a great stay, and if I could get the same rate again, I would return again very soon.

“From bad to worse.”

Pros:
Amazing view

Cons:
The room was dirty- I placed my cell phone on the dresser only to discover a sticky ring left by someone else. There was blood on a towel in the bathroom, really HI, you can't take that $2.00 stained towel out of rotation? The kitchenette floor was dirty and sticky and the counters were not clean. Also, the toiletries in the bathroom had been used and I only noticed because the lotion was half gone. There is a light in the shower that is missing a cover, so you get to shower or soak in the jacuzzi tub under an exposed light bulb! The bedroom area was carpeted, but at the door separating the kitchen, the carpet was ripped and coming up exposing the sharp tacks or whatever they used to install it. When we turned the heat on, the room quickly started to smell like cigarette smoke and only got stronger once we started moving around in the room. Thinking it would be more benefiticial instead of calling the front desk, I went down to see about changing rooms. I was offered carpet powder and air freshener, and was told that she could not move us because the hotel is non-smoking. She also offered us an ionizer, which I accepted. It arrived promptly, was plugged in, and turned on with us in the room. When my husband returned, he went to the front desk and asked for a new room which he got. Unfortunately, the new room was not any better- not clean, smelly, broken phones, and the hair dryer did not work which I discovered after washing my hair. We canceled our next night and moved to the Hilton the next morning. Side note: the indoor pool was cold and tiny, our kids shivered the entire 20 minutes in the pool. It is attached to a bar, so in addition to the cold and chlorine, we got to listen to loud people in the bar. This place is not worth the $$ or itchiness.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel.
