We stayed at this property overnight before a family reunion. As it is located near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, we expected other guest to be vacationers, sports fishermen and the like. Unfortunately, a cluster of rooms on our floor were booked by drag racing fans. Didn''t know there was a drag racing facility nearby. . . Don't worry, no noise from the track! Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the fans. They populated the halls outside our room well after 11 PM, had no regard for the sound level of their conversations or the force with which they opened and closed doors. But the dealbreaker was the smoking. We specifically booked a non-smoking room for our family of four (two adults, two children). Despite signs prohibiting smoking on this floor, several guests lit up and stunk up the hallway, which inevitably leaked into our room. However, a call to the front desk resulted in prompt patrolling by the night desk clerk, a vigorous deoderant spray of the hallway, and the offending guests being moved elsewhere. The next morning, we discovered that Patricia Sparks, the General Manager, had credited us back half the room price and made it a point to talk to us before checkout to apologize and make sure we had no other problems.
The problems were resolved quickly and effectively, apologies were made, financial compensation was made without our asking - clearly this manager cares about her property's reputation. In addition, the facility was clean and tidy, inside and out: Well maintained grounds, safely lit parking lot, well-organized breakfast buffet. Nice work, Ms. Sparks!
