We chose to stay at the ESA because it accepted pets and we thought we could save a bit of money on our week long stay by cooking at the hotel for a few of our meals (per their website, they offer a 'fully-stocked kitchen'). The kitchen, however, was stocked with only the BAREST of cooking essentials (e.g., total cutlery and cooking utensils amounted to about four pieces) and they do not provide dishsoap or a dish sponge. This, combined with the fact that there are no grocery stores nearby, made the whole idea of conveniently eating some meals at home, the basis for our stay, a ridiculous challenge.
The room was nicely vacuumed and wiped down, but appeared outdated and very worn with some of the wall areas surrounding the lightswitches being brown with dirt. The bed was uncomfortable and the two pillows they provided were terrible--one was very lumpy as if it had been washed a zillion times and the other was very, very flat. Finally, the person in the room next to us smoked and, if you did not run the fan in your bathroom and keep the bathroom door shut, the smoke permeated the bathroom and the bedroom.
All this being said, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was quiet (we asked that our room not face the USPS facility, thanks to another trip advisor's tip), and all appliances functioned appropriately. Accordingly, our stay was not intolerable, just not worth anywhere near the $99/night we paid.
We won't be visiting this chain of hotels in the future.
