This is the second stay that my family has had with this motel and the third stay that our group has stayed there in the last three years. My first stay was all aces and I would have graded it all fours and mostley fives if I'd been registered at that time with tripadvisor. The staff in 2008 was just so daggone nice when we stayed there that I couldn't have imagined staying anyplace else this time. The issues with this stay were as follows: 1.) Right out of the gate, upon arrival, we were greeted by the rudest desk person that I've ever encountered at any motel stay.....EVER! I had made reservations for four rooms for four families on a school trip competition at the University of Maryland for five days. When we walked in from a ten hour road triip from Central Kentucky, we waited approximately five minutes or better for her to finish her phone calls before she started to check us in. She had a pained look on her face the entire time like we were a bother to her by standing there. After a bit of searching she found our reservations and all of our rooms were scattered around the motel and not together as I had requested on my reservation. I keep up with Trip Advisor and saw an earlier warning about bed bugs in room 207 and my wife and I are very particular about not chancing bringing home "guests" when we travel and check each matress thoroughly when we stay in a motel. When I mentioned that i would be happy with most any room except room 207, she showed me that it happened to be one of the rooms that we were getting. I asked her if there was any way we could get another room besides that one and she told me that there was absolutely no more rooms in the hotel available except one king sized bed smoking room. She then proceded to lecture us that we could check the room and if it didn't suit us we could just move on down the road and she wouldn't blame us. She was sour and hateful the entire time and when my wife asked for her name, she just spit our her name and shoved our room assignments at us and walked off to the back. My wife and I walked to the elevator and waited a LONG time for it to open. We were out of sight of the front desk when we heard her talking on the phone to the manager covering her behind by telling him we had come in with bad attitudes and talking about bed bugs and it wasn't her fault if we contacted him about her. When I stepped out into sight, she quickly finished her call and then went back to her business without looking my way anymore. NOW...I'm responsible for four families in this situation who are all coming in off of ten hour road trips at seperate times. So, after looking online at a computer in the lobby of the hotel to see if any rooms were available at some of the local hotels and finding that it would cost the group several hundred dollars at this point by not booking in advance, my wife and I go up to inspect the room. We decide that we will stay at least one night and decide as a group if we want to move on. If I had been traveling and only responsible for my family and reservations, I would have paid the premium to tell that psycho woman where she could shove her bed bugs. We DID NOT, however, find any bedbugs in room 207 and inspected it more than thoroughly....believe me...we checked it out good. I met each family as they arrived and as stated earlier by someone else that was there at the same time, the lobby A/C was down, so it was hot. And as a bonus I'm getting to look at the spider head weave woman that checked me in earlier each time I pass by the front desk. We had a bit of trouble trying to get a roll a way bed put in our room as we had five in the room (remember she offered us a smoking one king size bed room) due to the little maintenance fellow not understanding english. I had to go to the front desk and she tells me; "Well I sent him up there to put a bed in the room, so, you will have to just go and check the other three rooms to see if he put the bed in there instead." I explain the situation to the school sponsor of the trip when she arrives and she happens to see the manager and points him out to me. He did attempt to make things better and was very nice about it which is why I gave a two instead of a one to the service. He offered to move us to another room, one not smoking with two double beds, (where was that when we were dealing with the woman before?) but we had inspected the room and unpacked, so, we settled in. He did try to remedy the situation, but overcoming our opinion by this time was pretty tough. The elevator was also not working when we first got there but they did get it fixed pretty quickly. (Remember us waiting on it and hearing the woman at the desk call the manager to cover her backside?) It was a great place to stay in 2008 but has slid. If you want a room in a fairly clean hotel that is fifteen minutes from University of Maryland, this place is just O.K. But watch out for the weave woman at the front desk, cause if she is in a bad mood....you'll get it.
