We stayed here for a night traveling from SC to CT. O.k.hotel, a bit dated....older tv's, the receptionist said they will be getting flat screens soon-which is good. Sort of a strange hotel-looks nice from outside...receptionist stated the main floor you walk into is actually the 2nd floor...while the 1st floor is in the basement-strange-
Ceiling was very high-we stayed at main level(which was really the 2nd floor) overall, it was a bit dated, carpet, etc, but not a bad place to stay for a night-there wasnt really too much more to choose from!

I traveled with my mother to Chesapeake City, MD for Canal Day and to visit relative. I have never been to the area and turned to trip advisor to find the most comfortable accommodations in the area. The choices were slim, and I was reluctant after staying in a luxurious boutique hotel in Philadelphia the night before (I'm a self admitted hotel snob), but I was pleasantely surprised. The Elkton exit looked more like a truck stop (where the hotel is located); but the actual town and it's dreamy neighbor - Chesapeake City were fabulous, charming and quaint.

The staff was excellent, polite, and helpful. The room was very clean and well ventilated. The breakfast was very well appointed, and even that staff was attentive and kind. Best accomodation in the area by far! Thanks staff of Elkton Hampton Inn! Our stay was excellent.

A waiter at a nearby restaurant told us to avoid the Knights Inn in Elkton because it was a haven for prostitutes and it was infested with roaches. Apparently Elkton is a major trucking center and the hookers congregate there. That being said, we didn't see any suspicious activity ourselves and we found the Hampton Inn to be clean and quiet. Although we did find a large black beetle in the room, it was quickly disposed of and we didn't see any others. It didn't appear to be a roach, but any bug in a hotel room is an unpleasant surprise.
There is a rail line behind the hotel so it's best to request a room facing the front of the building, which, while it isn't more than a few hundred feet from a major highway, wasn't too noisy.
The beds were okay, a little lumpy, but the room was pleasantly decorated and the bathroom was neat and functional. The building seemed to either be new or recently renovated.
The desk clerk was very courteous and friendly. There's a great barbeque restaurant less than a mile from the hotel and a Waffle House is within easy walking distance. The breakfast served at the hotel was buffer-style and decent, nothing incredible, but okay.
Overall, I'd recommend the Hampton Inn, Elkton. Considering the other hotels in town, it seemed like the best of the lot.

Everything inside this hotel is good including good room condition, free internet access and good breakfast. However, the hotel locates next to a railway line. It is noisy when train passes.
