“Great location, large comfortable room, and great hostess”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

We had a great time discovering Easton and the surrounding towns. Clara was very helpful in identifying areas we should visit and was a great hostess. We had great meals in Easton, Oxford, and Lowes Wharf...sushi in Easton at the General and the soup at Legal Spirits is to die for. The breakfast was filling and very good both mornings. We will return.

“Great Deal!”

Considering that most B&Bs require a 2-night stay, it was refreshing to find Easton's Promise accommodated a one night stay on a weekend night. Considering other local choices - Hampton Inn out on Route 50 or Tidewater Inn (@ $240/night) - Easton's Promise was a great deal. Carla is a lovely host, and her dog just loves her. One of her traditions is to offer champagne or sparkling cider on arrival, which we had (along with Fritos, kind of quirky). She had an evening event to attend, and they live off-site, so we essentially had the place to ourselves! The parlor is beautiful, the garden is lovely, and the whole B&B is gorgeous - high ceilings, well-appointed bathrooms, lots of light in the upstairs rooms (*Governors Retreat* and one other.) Parking was available across the street in the bank parking lot. We were one block from a TERRIFIC family-owned/family-run restaurant, General Tanuki's, and maybe two blocks from The Avalon. Easton is a lot like Haddonfield, NJ or Ellicott City, MD - quaint boutiques, ice cream shop, paint your own pottery. Most shops close at 5 on Saturdays. Definitely a lovely place to spend the night/weekend. (Note, EP's website needs updating; more importantly, the B&B is for sale, all you B&B owner wanna-be's.)

“The Perfect Chesapeake Bay Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2009

We couldn't have found a better getaway for our East Coast visit. I booked two rooms, one for us and one for my best friend (Gov's Retreat and Garden View), which just wowed us with their amenities, well-appointed furniture and views. The Garden view room has a large multi-head shower, cute wicker furniture, somewhat of a British Raj motif and a nice view of the English garden. The Gov's retreat sports a four poster bed, sitting area and a giant Bay window off the street. I was afraid that this would proove very noisy but the windows and shutters seem to screen the noise. I loved it because it had individual charm and comfort but I suppose my partner and my best friend loved their wi-fi access and easy access to town activities.
Carla, the inn-keeper, was great and despite what previous reviews have noted, her old dog brought a level of charm too. I suppose if there are those people who hate dogs (could there really be?), maybe they would not like a personable dog, spoiled by years of aquaintences with other dog-loving guests. Carla also made suggestions for dinner and activities. She made our dinner reservations and skipjack sailing reservations before we arrived.
Breakfast was not small and chintzy as some have mentioned. It was more than adequate from my view. I'm a hard feed for breakfast as I have such specific preferences (no milk, eggs, pork, coffee, pastries, cantelope) but Carla not only tolerated them but made her best to accomadate for all of them. For this effort, I applaude her as I have often been relegated to "just eat the toast and tea" in many B&B's that have cost much more.
So this leads me to the final point, the cost. I found the cost (for the 4rth of July weekend) to beat other local inn's price point, so much so that I was wondering at first what I was going to get us into! It seems that Carla has plans to move on to another part of her life and will give up innkeepership in the near future. This is unfortunate because she is a natural at this work.

“The Perfect Home-Away-From-Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2009

My wife and I were exiled from our own home for four days when we had our floors refinished last month. So we stayed, on the advice of a friend, at Easton's Promise. The innkeeper, Carla Cronin, couldn't have been nicer. She went out of her way to make sure that all our needs were met, and to make us feel at home. Breakfast each day was a treat, especially the French toast casserole. Needless to say, since we were banished from our house, we had to eat dinners out. We've lived in Easton for more than 20 years, yet this lady, who opened her doors six years ago, knows far more about the local restaurants -- cuisine, prices, dress codes, credit cards, etc. -- than we do. She turned us on to a couple of places we hadn't known, but to which we'll be sure to return. We'll also be sure, if renovation or a natural disaster ever exiles us from our home again, to return to Easton's Promise. We will recommend to our out-of-town guests, too. We know they'll be in good hands.

“Might skip this one.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2008

The hostess was very nice, the room was comfortable but not as advertised with lush down comforters and pillows. The breakfast was really no more than just a small continectal breakfast.. I've never stayed in a Bed and Breakfast that offered 4 bites of canned pineapple and three 1/2 dollar sized frozen waffles for breakfast.
I've stayed in many beds and breakfast both locally and through out the world including Greece, Ireland, Enland, Spain, Japan and Korea so I feel I can comment knowingly.
I feel this could be a wonderful location but they really do need to work on cooking a fresh breakfast for guests.

Mmmmmm? We only serve fresh pineapple, which I cut up myself. The waffles are made from scratch each morning and one only has to ask for more if they want more. We do not use down comforters as many are allergic to down. Our beds are the best around.
