“Cheap and No Frills”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2007

I stayed at this location for the Capital City Jazz Festival. My non-smoking room smelled like smoking. The front desk is not 24 hrs. The hotel ran out of towels. It appears they ration them out to housekeeping. I had to go to the front desk and they didn't even have enough. It was unreal. The hotel was bearable. If you don't expect anything (i.e. drinking cups, lotion, hand soap, etcc.) It beats the Ramada in but barely. I wouldn't stay here again. I'll pay the extra 30 bucks for a better hotel.

“Fairly clean and cheap”

I stayed here for a business trip for work. Firstly, the appliances were fine (stove, microwave, refridgerator, toaster and coffee maker) and the room was clean. There were also dishes provided. The staff was friendly and the room was a decent size. And the windows opened! Although my room was clean, there was a burn hole in my comforter (and I don't smoke), the carpet was stained and there were holes in the walls. None of which distracted me from sleeping well. You have to go to the front desk to get a hair dryer, they are NOT in the rooms. The walls are extremely thin. A few of my room's lights were out. Maid service is only provided once a week unless you ask for it. And the hotel did smell faintly of smoke. All coke/food vending was on the first floor only, along with the laundry. All in all, I wouldn't stay at this hotel again (if by my choice), but it wasn't horrible. If you're checking in late like I did, you should make sure to call ahead of time as there will not be anyone at the desk after a certain time. You will have to dial 600 on the phone just inside the doors and the overnight maids will let you in and give you your room key. Happy traveling!

“Not worth the money”

We stayed here at the end of March because we were attending a wedding. We wanted the kitchenette because we would be there for just over a week and didn't want to eat out all the time. As written in another review in Dec '05 about this place receiving a facelift. It doesn't look like it happened. The rooms didn't look updated or renovated at all. The bedding was very worn, with cigarette burns and holes in it. We too had a non-smoking room, but if we left the ceiling fan off in the bathroom, smoke would seep in from the vent. The hallway smelled like it was the smoking lounge. We also had individuals who could not speak English knocking at our door at all hours of the night looking for someone. On the weekend the neighbor across the hall had a party. Someone vomitted in the stairwell. The smell was seeping out into the hallway. We informed the desk the next morning, it took them most of the day before they finally had it cleaned up. We didn't choose this place because we wanted to save money, we chose it for the kitchen, which definitely came in handy. But we certainly didn't expect this place to just be a Motel 6 with the kitchen. Don't be deceived by the photos on the hotel website, the rooms don't look like that. I wouldn't recommend this hotel either. Next time we will just deal with eating out all the time.

“Pass this one”

We stayed at this hotel for the Christmas holidays. We changed rooms twice and still were not very satisfied. The hotel is being given a face lift and we could see why. Everything was old and dated. Not much space for clothes. After all it is an EXTENDED STAY. We were in the NO SMOKING area and you could smell cigarettes as you walked down the hall. I was also unhappy to see that there were at least two people who had numerous pets. I would not reccommend this hotel.

“Avoid this place”

I stayed in this hotel for several months in early 2004. There isnt much nice to say about this place. The bed and sheets werent very comfortable and the condition of the room was fair, at best. This place looked like a day labor camp as most of the other tennants were construction worker types, there were some real seedy characters staying here.

I made what I thought was going to be a local call and got robbed by this chain when I got my weekly bill. Even though I was in the 410 area code and called another number in the 410 area code, I found that the hotel really socks you with an outrageous per minute billing charge, the worst long distance isnt even close to what they charge. The hotel claimed local calls were free, and the manager claimed that the exchange I called was technically out of the area and therefore subject to the hotel's going rate, which he claimed was posted in the room (but it was not).

I was glad to check out of this place. The price might seem reasonable, but avoid this hotel if you can.
