The room we stayed in was clean, had both a refrigerator and a microwave, coffeemaker, hairdryer, complimentary coffee/tea. We were there for an event at University of Maryland, so the location was extremely convenient. It only took a few minutes to get to the facility. Our room was on the second floor, so it was necessary to go up some outside stairs, use a key to get into the hallway, which was enclosed in plexiglass. Kind of a pain for hauling luggage, but we managed. The Clarion was obviously a motor lodge type place with outside corridors that have now been enclosed. Likewise with the center "courtyard". It is now covered over and has a pool table, the pool, a couple of arcade-type games, foosball. The enclosed courtyard is very dark. It also has a kitchen area where the complimentary breakfast is set up. In spite of the renovations, the place has a rather cheap motel feel, but for our purposes it was adequate. Srinivas at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. Checkin and checkout were seamless. I believe there are laundry faciliities on the premises, but we did not use them. My complaint would be with the bathroom. The area where the toilet and shower are is just big enough to turn around in. The tub is raised up several inches from the floor which then puts the shower head at about chest level. I am only 5'4", but I had to stoop over to wash my hair. Also there were not enough electrical outlets in the room. I had to unplug the clock and a lamp so that my guest and I could have our cell phone chargers next to the bed. We ate at Asian Fusion which is attached to the motel. We were a large group and the staff seated us in the area where the breakfast bar is set up which was fine because we had lots of children and we were a bit noisy. We had to wait quite awhile for our food to be served, but when it did come, it was plentiful and I didn't hear any complaints. There was quite a good variety of asian choices, and they also offered a menu called "Varsity Grill" which had American choices. The staff agreed to set up the breakfast bar at 5:30 a.m. since our group had early plans, so I don't know whether the later breakfast was better. They did have the usual waffle iron and a bowl of hardboiled eggs, but they were the only hot items. I guess I have been spoiled by other breakfast bars, as there was only white bread for toast, and two types of mini-muffins which were on the stale side. As other reviewers have stated, there are many places on Route 1 and the surrounding areas to eat and shop. In summary, the motel was adequate for our purposes, but we only were there for a place to sleep.
