This location provides some of the best rates in the DC/Maryland/VA area. That's a primary reason we picked it, plus it's a 3-4 block walk to the Red Line Metro stop. Regarding location, we quickly discovered that it's near one of the best Whole Foods stores, and is near fantastic (upscale) shopping and restaurants. We always felt safe during our 8-night stay.

Courtyard doesn't offer comp breakfast, nor is their restaurant open for lunch. But, they seemed to be relatively busy for dinner. We needed to have dinner there once while confined to our hotel during the height of Hurricane Irene, and we were quite pleased with quality of our food.

Some less than favorite aspects of this Courtyard: front desk staff wasn't consistently friendly or knowledgeable about getting around the DC and surrounding area. A few staff members were great, but overall, I expected better. The towels--terrible. Small and thin. Internet connection--super slow!! We also did not receive replentishments for TP, or shampoo on several occasions--had to go ask for these things.

Will I return? Maybe. The rate is great. But I do have eyes for the Embassy Suites which is just down the street.

The room was ok. however, i forgot my very expensive pillow, i often bring it do to a neck problem. I called the manager right away, they said," sorry no pillow was left in the room." The maid obviously took the pillow. I had no recourse at all. Later i was telling a friend about the ordeal she said a very similar thing happened to her at the same hotel. Some kind of scheme. I would never stay at this hotel again and I travel to washington area quite a bit. The management was rude and unhelpful. Plenty of other hotels to choose from in the area.

We enjoyed our stay at this Marriott hotel. The room is very clean and the quality of the room is excellent and the staff are friendly. They provide complimentary coffee in your room and the lobby. The hotel is about 3-4 blocks from the metro subway stop, which is about 20 mins ride into Washington.

The location is good. It is in the middle of shopping of every sort, is a 5 minute walk to Whole Foods and about 7 minutes to the Red Line Metro that takes you into the center of DC.
I have two complaints...
The biggest is that there was a large closet with plenty of room to hang clothes used on a long trip like mine but the closet rod had been removed!! Instead there were two 8 inch pegs sticking out of the wall. There was no possibility of having wrinkles hang out since everything was squashed onto them. What is supposed to be good about this arrangement is a mystery to me. If I'd been with my husband in the winter I can't imagine where we would have put our coats.
My other complaint is common to many Marriott hotels. I seriously dislike their shower heads. I'm all for water saving, but their shower heads give so little water it took me 45 minutes to wash my hair! That did not save any water, it just stole my time.
A plus for this hotel is that they happily removed all feathers from the room so I had many fewer allergies.
