“Food Network's Tom Pizzica”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

I am from the Philadelphia area and heard that Tom Pizzica from the Food Network's Outrageous Food had worked in Chestertown Maryland at a small restaurant so I took the day trip down. I am a huge Pizzica fan and thought that it was really cool that they had articles about him openning up this restaurant. I think it is awesome that such a cool personality used to create here and wish all the best for the restaurant! Oh and although Big Chef isn't cooking there anymore, the food is still great!

“Convenient and surprisingly quiet”

We stayed overnight here with friends and were pleased enough with the place we would return but not sure we would recommend it particularly to others. The place is a bit shabby and the bed a little too soft but the location cannot be beaten. We just had breakfast in the
restaurant of the hotel and it was good.

“a very welcoming and gracious place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

On a college tour visit, we stayed here with our teenage daughter in a one-bedroom suite which had a wonderful large second floor porch overlooking the quaint street. There is a small kitchen and I loved the fact that the coffee in the room was not little packets, but real scoopable coffee. Get some cream from downstairs and you are all set. The staff was truly accommodating and dinner in the restaurant was surprisingly sophisticated for this rural town. We will be happy to stay here while visiting our daugther at Washington College when she gets in!

“Except for the location not all that great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

After checking in in the afternoon, really late at night we got back in the room and found some small cockroaches in the bathroom. They were hiding behind the toilet/wallpaper and a small hole in the floor. One made his way to the tub. The front desk is empty at night, so we slept and waited till the next morning and asked to be moved to another room for the remainder of our stay. We couldn't be moved because the hotel was fully booked. The nice lady told me she was shocked to hear about this and said it was the first time they had heard about them all summer. She did offer to send housekeeping up (I'm no pro, but this needs an exterminator, not a sweep and mop).

She helped us find a room in a nearby hotel for the next night and comped our previous night, as well as giving out free breakfast.

I don't know if they fixed the holes, had pest control come over and deemed the room entirely ok again, but they did rent it out the next day as I noticed when I was back there visiting a friend in another room. Maybe that is not irresponsible (again, I'm no pro) but it left a bad taste with me.

In the end, even without insects I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It looks boutique from the outside, but just plain "old" on the inside. Which is too bad, because the location is A+. If you do book it, get the suite on the 3rd floor, I saw it and its great.

“Not what we expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

Wanting to get away for a few days, we decided to stay at the Imperial Hotel based on reviews and web site. Was very surprised, we were greeted by Joe (Manager of Residents) whom is very nice and accomadating, and were able to check in before check in, however seeing the room with a hole in the king size bedspread did leave me thinking, but he immediately had a staff member change it out. The room was small and of days gone by, the little window unit try hard to keep room cool, but to no avail. After a restless night we decided to check out however one thing that stood out that I didn't like was no one ran the vacumn in the dining area from lunch, dinner the night before and eating our free continential breakfast just didn't appeal to me. Could have been a little cleaner.
