We have returned for periodic “getaways “ to this comprehensive Resort many times over the last few years because of its very well-priced combination of facilities a few hours drive from the D.C. metro area—large, comfortable, well-outfitted guest rooms with comfortable beds, large bathrooms (with good water pressure), and balconies--water front location with large outdoor and indoor pools, very good, full service Spa, walking trails wending their way in and around the Resort and the water’s edge, restaurants serving great—if resort priced--food, beautiful public rooms with views of the water, and uniformly good service. We are not golfers but a golf course is woven into the beautiful, spacious, and well-kept, immaculate grounds, and there is even a bird rookery. The resort includes a marina, docking facilities, and a boating supplies shop. There is also a very large conference center in a separate attached building. Finally, there are all sorts of things for children—the pools including a separate outdoor pool for children, a game room, and an outdoor play area, and their website mentions other family activities. An attractive feature is a huge outdoor fireplace that can be seen from the main restaurant, and its fun to gather around it in the evening.
