“Excellent waterfront Hotel, Golf Resort, Marina, and Spa within easy drive of D.C. area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We have returned for periodic “getaways “ to this comprehensive Resort many times over the last few years because of its very well-priced combination of facilities a few hours drive from the D.C. metro area—large, comfortable, well-outfitted guest rooms with comfortable beds, large bathrooms (with good water pressure), and balconies--water front location with large outdoor and indoor pools, very good, full service Spa, walking trails wending their way in and around the Resort and the water’s edge, restaurants serving great—if resort priced--food, beautiful public rooms with views of the water, and uniformly good service. We are not golfers but a golf course is woven into the beautiful, spacious, and well-kept, immaculate grounds, and there is even a bird rookery. The resort includes a marina, docking facilities, and a boating supplies shop. There is also a very large conference center in a separate attached building. Finally, there are all sorts of things for children—the pools including a separate outdoor pool for children, a game room, and an outdoor play area, and their website mentions other family activities. An attractive feature is a huge outdoor fireplace that can be seen from the main restaurant, and its fun to gather around it in the evening.

“better than going to the beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We live in the Washington, DC area and love going to the Hyatt- the price is cheaper than going to the shore and the quality of the resort is by far much better than most eastern beach places. The rooms are standard Hyatt- have had concierge level but did not think it was worth the extra money. There are many things to do- my husband plays golf and I like to go to the spa. There is also a kids club. Pools and grounds are beautiful- we never leave the hotel property. Lobby is very grand and the onsight restraunts are nice- family friendly.

Room Tip: do upgrade to a waterview room-worth every penny!

“Impressive Facility and Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We stayed at the Hyatt for 2 nights on a special winter deal and were pleased with the friendliness of the staff and the absolute cleanliness of the facility even though some renovations were taking place. The food in the Waterside Grill was excellent. We asked to sit right by the fireplace and the waitstaff accomodated us happily. We were also upgraded to a waterview room at check in without a hassle just by asking.

The indoor pool is magnificent and the huge fireplace outdoors is blazing nightly which is a very nice touch. Smores kits were complimentary with the winter package for use at the fireplace also! We would recommend this hotel enthusiastically for its great setting on the Choptank River, the well trained and accomodating staff, and the well maintained condition of the hotel. We would like to revisit sometime in the high season when activities are in full swing.

“Lovely location, even in winter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I actually drove past the turnoff to the Hyatt as I approached on Highway 50; the crossroad has two different names, depending on your direction. The entrance is a lovely drive, almost like a nature reserve, including deer crossings.

The hotel wasn't full during my 4-day stay in January, but I can imagine what it would be like in spring, summer, and fall. Lovely location. Good restaurants. Personalized service. Clean rooms.

The only thing average was the massage at the spa.

I'll definitely return here.

“Very Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake for business. I found the hotel to be very clean, with friendly, helpful staff. The place is just beautiful, and I would love to stay there in the summer when I good really enjoy the outdoor amenities. I didn't actually eat in one a resturant there because many of our meals were included in the conference. One evening though, I was in the lounge bar with friends when we asked about getting something to eat. They didn't have food to serve us there, but brought us the menu from the fine dining resturant, and delivered the food to us in the bar. The food that we ordered was great.
