“Unacceptable”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Be aware when you give the front desk your debit card for incidental fees upon checking in, they will charge your debit card $20 for every day the you have reserved. I came for a business meeting and was not paying for the room, and was informed that my card would be charged $20. I checked my bank statement and had two transactions from the hotel for $100, and $40. They were not expeditiously assisting me to get the charges removed. It is completely unacceptabke, and they told me that it would take 48 hours to remove the charges, and two days later they are still showing.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your experience at our hotel. It is standard process at hotels to take an incidental deposit when a guest checks in to cover items such as movies or phones calls. When using a credit card an authourization is made, but never charged till checkout. Unfortunately when guests use debit cards, this authorization actually holds cash transactions till check out. When this was brought to our attention it was on the weekend when banks are closed. We immediately changed to a cash deposit and informed the bank. Each bank is different in how many days it takes to release the hold. I am sorry you felt that this was directed at you, but we were following procedures, but could have explaine dit better upon check in. We have taken your review and shared it with the staff to make sure they check to see if it is a debit card first, then explain procedures if the guest is not familiar with them. We appreciate your time in bringing this to us so we can use as a teaching moment with the staff.

“Quick Stay One Night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I spent one night at this hotel. The room was very nice. It was nicely decorated and the location was great. It was downtown so, the group I went with were able to walk a block over to get to a great selection of restaurants, shops, etc. The movie theater was right across the street. The rooms are well kept, the bed was very comfortable. I like the efficiency kitchen that is provided in the room. The lobby was very nicely decorated and the breakfast offered was delicious. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and will suggest it to my husband when we venture North again.

“Business Stay”

I was recently transferred for work to the DC area, and couldn't access my new place for about two weeks after my start date. I ended up staying at the Residence Inn in downtown Bethesda and my experience was absolutely first rate.

I drove up to Bethesda from TN, which is about a 9 hour drive with stops. So, needless to say, I was absolutely mentally drained and exhausted when I checked in. The front desk staff and valet were extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was stellar. Separate living room and bedroom, full kitchen, very clean, and quite large.

The breakfast in the morning is very convenient, and being here for two weeks, has quite a variety. Some mornings it was crowded, but it was always well stocked, fresh, and I could find an empty seat.

The valet staff is awesome! They are always friendly (even early in the morning and late at night), and quick. Even at peak times (730am and 530pm) they are super-fast at bringing up or taking my car. They consistently opened my door (I'm southern - I notice), and help me load and unload my car.

Also, after a few days, the staff recognized me and always had a smile or a kind word, which is a nice touch I have come to appreciate from Marriott properties. I had to extend my stay from a week and a half to two weeks, and it took the front desk about 5 minutes to complete my request. I was flabbergasted. About every other time I walked past the front desk, they made sure to ask me how I was enjoying my stay and if they could do anything to make it better.

The location is extremely convenient. You are just a few blocks from an array of restaurants and bars, and about a block and a half to the metro (red line). I had a great time exploring the bars and restaurants within walking distance and it is VERY safe to walk around the area.

The Wi-Fi is spotty and slow at times but hey - it's free. I've paid 12$ a day for much worse.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anybody looking for an extended stay or family trip. It's top notch quality service, the rooms are spacious and clean, the location is great, and the price is reasonable.

“Quick Stay At Bethesda Marriott”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I stayed two weekend nights at this hotel in downtown Bethesda. My room was like a small apartment, with a separate bedroom and efficiency kitchen. Everything seemed relatively new. The common areas were modern, clean and well apponted. The breakfast was good and the service from the valet to the front desk was very attentive. I drove in and used my car but this hotel is also close to a metro station and downtown businesses. My only complaint was that the bedroom seemed much colder than the living room and I suspect that results from the window design which does not provide much insulation. I also was unable to obtain a wireless internet connection in the room.

“Resturaunt Services and Staff Contributions”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I had a great experience at the at the Residence Inn restaurant. Reservations where made but I had to rearrange my schedule unexpectedly due to unforeseen time constraints and I was not going to be able to attend. Shortly after that I came to find out that the business meeting got pushed back. I was unable to get in touch with my clients to reconfirm, but luckily a manager by the name of Mr. Ron Khan called to advise me of the change of the table reservations and worked as a liaison through my clients. His anticipatory actions and keen sense saved the day. Long story short, I was prepared ahead of time due to the concern of the Marriott staff, namely Mr. Khan, and I was able to meet with my clients on time to help facilitate the meeting. Thanks for your help Ron.
