Rooms suck. No hot water, no clock, hair dryer, screen slider, wifi(as advertises). 200.00 a night I was expecting a nice motel. Rip off. Not to mention had to walk up three flights of stairs. 3 people , 2 washcloths. Next year we will call earlier and stay at the anchorage.

I have been going to York Beach since I was a little kid-first with family and then with my kids when they were young. Nowadays we go back every summer for a couple of weeks and bring the grandkids along as well. I have driven by the Grandview hundreds if not thousands of times and never gave it a second thought. This summer after having spent our two weeks at Long Sands (we rent a house) the weather was so amazing that I just had to get back. On such a short notice there were not many options but the Grandview had openings so I rented a room for my myself, my wife and our teenage daughter. I was completely impressed by the cleanliness of the entire place. The room although somewhat outdated was very clean and bright and the bathroom was just as clean. The entire property is well maintained-the lawn and flowers are manicured and easy on the eyes.
The pool was great for an afternoon dip and the owners were great.
The balcony and view cannot be beat! Sitting there in the morning or at night the sight and sound of the ocean directly across the street is amazing.
We will be back.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Grand View. We were a party of 4 adults and an infant. The accommodations were in a great location for us as it was directly across from Long Sands which was very convenient when traveling with an infant. The hotel room was very simple, more of what you would expect to see an the historic town of York. Although there was definitely need for some updating the accommodation was very clean. Although the housekeeping staff was down 2 members our room would not have showed that. As soon as you opened the door to the room it smelled nice and clean, the bedspreads were aligned evenly along the floor and the bathroom had no signs of another guest being there before us. (I say this because we have stayed in places in York where this was not the case). The view was absolutely breath taking and the nicely sized deck was ample for all 5 of us. Our room was located on the third floor facing the ocean, so it was also quite quiet as well. The service was great, we were even able to check in early, which was also another perk when traveling with an infant. The owners were very understanding of that and got us right in as soon as they could. The indoor pool looked nice although we did not use it. The one downside was that we could not connect to the wi-fi as the service was not very good and the TV channels were minimal. However, it didn't bother us too much as we were there to enjoy the ocean and the town life. As a whole we would go back!

What can you say about this place - mediocre at best. Cheap but not necessarily value. Owners perfectly pleasant, rooms mostly not - dark, poor lighting, old in a totally un-charming, dilapidated way. Wifi didn't work in the room, which kinda puts a dampener on the 'Free Wifi' sign on the front, and the 'heated' indoor pool nearly froze my face off. Basically I suspect the old guys who run it have been in the business for a long time and are a bit bored with the place, waiting to retire or sell it on. Were I to find myself in that area again I'd spend 5 minutes more looking around to get a better room. I suppose I should mention that the view is rather special, as it really is.
