“A cozy, hospitable, thoroughly enjoyable experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2011

My husband and I have been coming to the Ogunquit-York area for a number of years to celebrate our mid-winter anniversary. We happened upon this inn in a Google search and decided to take a try -- and we are so glad we did! We stayed on one of their 2-day packages. Sue and Andy are gracious and knowledgeable hosts, very comfortable to be around. The rooms were nicely appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast was awesome -- they went the extra mile to accommodate a food sensitivity.
We plan to return in somewhat warmer weather so we can open the windows and hear the sounds of the nearby beach.

“Can't Wait to Return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2011

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Inn . We had a wonderful time -- it felt like we were away for a week!!! The Inn's location in York is perfect -- you are within a short drive to Kennebunkport, Ogunquit, Kittery and, of course, the beaches of York. The Innkeepers were friendly, knowledgable about the area and very accomodating - their home was our home. Snow was plentiful, but picturesque, especially at night with the glitter of lights on the porch and shrubbery. Our room was on the second floor and was especially comfortable and cozy--two chairs to snuggle in to read, watch television or have some tea and cookies (complimentary). The bed was fabulous-fine linens and a good nights sleep. The breakfasts were amazing - fresh, tasty and plentiful - the homemade granola was exceptional. It was a perfect mid-winter stay!

“This was the worst B&B experience ever”

I had read the reviews prior to booking, but my stay was totally unlike the reports on this site.
This was my experience:
The hosts were most ungracious and rude.
The common areas of the inn were hot and not air conditioned. The small window air conditioners that were in your room were noisy and inefficient.
The breakfast was inedible.
The bathroom was so small one could hardly turn around.
I have traveled all over the world, and this ranks as the worst B&B I have stayed in.
On a brighter note, the town was lovely, the fort is not to be missed, and the ocean walk was quite pleasant. This is a good area to visit, but don't stay at this B&B.

We welcome constructive helpful feedback, but it’s difficult to respond to a review that suddenly appears six months later with a mysterious identity profile that does not match any of our records. There simply was no Solo Traveler from California or any other state who stayed at this inn during July 2010. In fact, our ONLY Solo Traveler between Memorial Day weekend and mid-September (when we have our highly efficient air-conditioning available here in moderate seacoast Maine) was a lovely woman from Colorado at the very end of August who had never stayed at a B&B before; she stayed in our Cottage Suite with a bath often shared by families of four. Could the reviewer be confused as to where she actually stayed half a year ago? There is a world renowned lighthouse in York, but no fort as mentioned.

If she was a guest here, we certainly would have made every effort to investigate the air-conditioning, offer a breakfast alternative, even switch rooms, if we’d only been made aware of her unhappiness. After all, if you read the 100s of guest comments about our beautiful historic 1880’s home and consistently wonderful abundant edible breakfasts on our website, you can see that our only intent and desire is to please, which is why other reviewers below regard us as one of their Best B&B experiences ever. Better yet, come visit us and check out the truth of who we are as innkeepers for yourselves!

“Felt 100% taken care of, house huge & beautiful, breakfasts delicious and abundant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

I stayed at Su and Andy's Inn at Tanglewood Hall (aka Tanglewood Inn) with my partner from July 30th to August 8, with a two day break in between, when we drove up to Rockland for the Maine Lobster Festival. Although not for the bargain hunters, this is by far the BEST B&B I have ever stayed in. It's central to all the southern Maine beaches (we loved York Harbor because it's much calmer than say, Ogunquit and Kennebunkport, but just as beautiful and a very short drive away). The huge 19th century home is maintained beautifully, they light candles every night and play soft music in the first floor so you always feel nice and relaxed, there is tons of privacy, the breakfast is plentiful and delicious (English muffins, bagels, fruit, a different casserole each day, coffee, two different juices, cereal) and available from 7am to 10am (which we LOVED because we hate getting up early), and there is a gorgeous cliff walk along the coast, walking distance from the front door. Leaving the best part for last - Sue and Andy greeted us for breakfast every day, they asked us what we had in mind (or if we didn't have anything in mind, they would give suggestions) and then proceeded to tell us exactly what to do to achieve our goals for the day (sightseeing, whale watching, restaurants, beaches, whatever), always with a map in hand! They made us feel so welcome, and best of all, they really made us feel like we were on vacation! I feel like I'm leaving some things out, but those are the main things we enjoyed about the Tanglewood. HIghly recommend it!

“Lovely Inn with Pleasant Hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

The inn is gorgeous. We had a nice breakfast and slept in a very quiet house. The hosts, Su and Andy were pleasant and helpful. And if their little dog, Pippin, ever needs to be adopted, we'd be happy to take him in!
